I completely Agree. I personally believe that it should be mandatory to vote. People should have the option to abstain their vote, but they at least need show that they voted.

I called the local conservative office and had them pick me up from my house so I could go and vote liberal.

haha.

The Consevatives actually called my house and asked if anyone in our household needed a ride to go and vote.

No other party phoned me yesterday.

It wasn't completely futile. Don't forget the Bloc was about to put forward a vote of confidence on the MP at the autumn assembly.

The Liberals couldn't go on supporting the CPC one more time like in the past, so Harper decided to call it before he looses the confidence vote.

In any case, we would have elections this autumn.

You know what I wrote in the cor... I don't need to write it here too.

Politics is a bullshit system put in place to hide social corruption. Candidates put forth by the system and voted in by people to continue running a garbage system.

Enough years... What does it have anything to do with me voting?

I choose not to vote because I don't agree with the system. Instead I just choose to adapt to the new changes they bring forth and not whine about it...

I'm saying that because you sound like a landed immigrant comparing us to a third world country, just shows how little you know about your host country.

Wait so are you reffering to Turkey as a 3rd world nation?

with the recent awareness of environmental issues coupled with being invited to the debates (which is the only success of the campaign) they should have been able to muster up more support.

The small increase in popular vote imo is more likely a result of al gore syndrome than her whistle stop campaign

Turkey was what I had for dinner three nights ago.

I don't care if it's not part of Europe. Personally I hope that it never joins the European Union. But the fact that you think Turkey is a 3rd world nation shows that you don't know what you are talking about. Go back to school.

Thonrhill went cons after being gritty for awhile. the only con riding in the GTA.

Posted by malek on Oct-15-2008 14:29:

3rd world country is not a current term anyways. It's middle of the pack country, half of the world is better, the other half is worst. With such countries faring better: Oman, Kazakhstan and Albania.

Does this makes you feel better?

You have to vote for what you beleive in period. No wonders green don't stand a chance, if people don't vote them just for that reason.

Posted by malek on Oct-15-2008 14:48:

Thanks to the Chrtien legacy, we might be stuck wiht minorities for a long time.

Every vote gives 2$ a year to the party, this means the Greens will have almost 2m$ a year from the govt, which is enormeous for a party with no MPs.

This gives them more advertizing power comes elections time, and more votes (to a certain extent).

So yes every vote counts.

Posted by zoogla on Oct-15-2008 15:11:

oic, short term pain for long term gain...we should have had Harper out with a majority Liberal govt, then this country would have fared better for the next 4 years IMHO. Now it's gonna be shit for the next god knows how long just so the Green party can keep building its shitty advertizing budget.

Except by not voting you are showing that you do agree with the system since you are indifferent with what the system chooses for you (aka "I'm fine with whatever party wins").

It's possible (not likely, but possible) to change the system if you vote based on who you vote for. On the other hand, it's impossible to change the system if you don't vote at all. You say one thing, but your lack of action accomplishes the exact opposite. Stupid imo.

Edit: the non-voters and the "i'm not voting for parties that have no chance of winning" people should just vote Communist in the next election, since that's the political ideology that best represents their beliefs.

except for those voters that simply want to change the current party.
