honestly, I can't not agree with the what he said - wtf are you supposed to do when you to the movies and the only spot available is the damn disabled spot?! or the other week we went to High Park and there was absolutely NO parking spots left around the park vicinity, only 1 or 2 handicapped

I don't understand what's so difficult to comprehend about this. They impose high fines on stupid offenses like this as a deterrence. If people know they're going to receive a $300 ticket for something as ridiculous as parking in a handicapped spot, they'll think twice about doing it just to save some time. Dr. Zaeus got what was coming to him and no one should feel sorry for him lol.

Would this make more sense to you if I applied it to food?

Drive around and look for another spot or wait for someone to move out. As for the High Park thing, you could easily have found a side street to park at. A short walk isn't going to hurt you.

In all the time I parked downtown, I've never had to park in a handicapped parking spot. There are other parking spots available if you just look.

And you're going to park in the handicapped spot when you go to the movies??? For like 2 hours???? What about the handicapped people who want to go to the movies? where the hell are they supposed to park?

Am I misreading what you're writing or are you honestly saying that it's okay to park in a handicap spot when you want to go to a movie? And with the park...find a farther spot and walk. It doesn't kill you. You're not handicapped, you can sacrifice walking for 10+ minutes. Most handicapped people cannot. That's why the spots are there.

Posted by Frenchie on Oct-19-2008 17:41:

Is someone really trying to fight a ticket, again? Every time someone gets a ticket, they complain about it on here. Ever think of taking the ticket, STFU, and pay it? SHOCKER, I know. That's the way it goes. You do something wrong, you get caught, you pay for your wrong doing.

where the hell am I supposed to park? I'm talking about theaters in like Richmond Hill or whatnot.. where it's the middle of nowhere and no other places to park nearby.. true story, happened once, we were late because we had to wait for someone to free a spot and had to a see a different movie instead

and in High Park there's no way you can stand and wait for a spot, it's too narrow, you either drive around in a circle like a lunatic or do indeed find a spot on a street... if there is one

i didn't say it's okey I'm asking a hypothetical question really, that's all

Posted by Frenchie on Oct-19-2008 17:45:

If you can't find a place to park, you can't find a place to park. Why take a space away from someone who needs it? Regardless if a handicapped person comes later to use it or not, you're taking their spot.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Oct-19-2008 17:48:

Yeah, use those legs you take for granted and walk your ass the extra block. The handicapped person whose spot you're taking would probably love to be able to do the same.

I understand what you're saying
I guess my logic is a bit flawed because I'm from a country where handicapped don't get a treatment like this - handicapped or not, you snooze - you lose kinda thing

Well you live in Canada now.

i said it before as a joke and no one commented, so ill say it again seriously

its pretty clear that if you know its agaisnt the law dont fucking do it, or take responsibilities for your actions.

with that being said tho

By parking in a disabled spot you are an asshole who has no regard for handicapped people - cost 300$

By parking in the fire route, disabling the ability of a fire truck or ambulance to properly deal with the situation - cost $100

yeah that place was needed all right, thats why it was empty

Do handicaped people get tickets when they park in regular spots leaving their handicapped spaces free?

So by your logic the handicapped spaces are supposed to be filled 24/7? Or with someone coming and going constantly? It could be free all day, but as soon as a lazy person takes that spot, that's when it's needed.

Posted by Dior Homme on Oct-19-2008 18:17:

You have gotten off easier if it was an Expectant Mothers Parking spot. But other than that, you're an idiot.

Parking in a handicap spot is a serious offence, more so than blocking a fire hazard or making your own spot.

Pay the fine, and tell all your friends your lesson.

wtf?

Anyway I cant stand it when Im in the passenger seat and the person driving takes 5 minutes to find the closest possible spot to park. I go holy shit man just park anywhere...even if its far who gives a shit if you have to walk for 15 seconds...are we crippled? In the winter I can understand this but it doesnt make sense on a warm sunny day.
