First, Aleksandra...I was that clumsy clown who stepped on your foot...I was drunk or something...you had open toed shoes on right? Sorry again!!

Secondly, my synopsis:

1. EARLY OPENING: I loved the early opening for drinks etc. and had a great time chatting with everyone...although I did start getting a bit antsy when Sasha told me that DH was late getting in from the airport and something about lost luggage...I started remembering the Sasha/Digweed fiasco but wiped the beads of panic sweat away when reports of a 10:15 start started circulating...

2. THE SET: Wow...he did it again...flawless programming through out...I stood by the booth at the front of the dance floor just watching the master at work. I loved it aside from the "slow down" around 330 or so...but Danny even APOLOGIZED to the crowd (if you were near the front you could hear him) right at the end for "losing focus" near the end as well...must have been thinking about his lost set of vinyl. An apology like that show again what kind of respect he has for his audience...

3. COMPARED TO LAST YEAR: It was going to be hard, if not impossible, to top last year's set...2007 was THAT good but also because expectations for this year were also THAT high. I noticed his programming was more methodical last year...he punctuated his set with a regular techier track every 3-5 tracks whereas this year it wasn't as noticeable. But, I'm splitting hair. Because of the "slow" period at 3:30 this show gets a 9 instead of a 9.5/10 last year. I can never give a 10...who knows what the future holds LOL?

4. FOOTWORK STAFF: Hats off to Stef, Joel, Jon Jon, Karolina, and all the other good people at FW. That club has really nailed it for doing things right!! Not a single complaint to anyone! And THANK-YOU for not getting greedy and ramming the place with people...I'm sorry for all those that came late and did not get in but it really made for a better experience inside. DON'T BE LATE for Lee Burridge! I think FW is gaining a lot of momentum now and shows like Burridge and Howells will likely sell out at FW from now on...

PS Jon Jon....you and I agree on the show all around...this is rare! Cool!

And Peter, I told you that it would be worth coming for the last 3 hours for $30 anyway!!

LOL

I heard that as well. They would never have a reason to raid Footwork.. It's the unsketchiest afterhours ever.

Glad people enjoyed it, I for one didn't. Then again I never heard Howells before so didn't know what to expect. My friend told me she went last year and it was insane, so I took her word for it.

Anyhow I got there and they weren't letting people in, so we all had to give the bouncer an extra $20, bypassed, got in.

He was great at working the crowd, and played some nice tracks for a while but that was it. The atmosphere was awesome and people seemed to be really enjoying themselves, which is always good.

We stayed until close anyway since it was around 2 hours away when we got in, and there was the occasional good track now and then. Overall cash well wasted, but at least now I know.

Well coming for the last 2hours of a marathon set is pointless.. you miss the whole production, build and story.. You don't get the full/proper experience.

Story eh?

No I fully agree with you on coming late, and I never do it if it was a dj I knew or looked forward to seeing. But like I said, people I knew loved last years set (and I never seen howells personally), so we just left everything and took off.

In the end though it didn't do it, alright but not worth the hassle.

There was around 8 of us, so maybe thats why.Anyhow, looking back wish he did the same to us! would've saved me some cash and avoided disappointment.

Definitely one of the better if not my favorite club night of the year.

First off thank you to FOOTWORK for not ramming the shit out of the place. I guess im used to going to places like GUV where given the opportunity to do so, they herd in as many people as they possibly can. But it really was a nice change to be at a club that seemingly has some respect for its customers on Saturday. The club pretty much had the perfect amount of people inside from the moment I stepped into Footwork (around 10:30 or so) to the time I left the club (4:00am). I think that if they had allowed anymore people inside it would have taken away from the awesomeness that was Saturday night.

Musically I thought his set this year was on par with last years if not a little better. Great mixing and programming from Danny and he pretty much played a bit of everything that I enjoy. There were some spots throughout the night that I wasn't entirely feeling but on the whole I thought it was great.

And this gets said every time he comes here to play but Danny being Danny always adds a little something extra to the night. The fact that he is alot of fun to watch behind the decks, friendly and genuinely appreciative of his fans (unlike some other **** djs ) always makes the night a little more enjoyable.

The only thing that would have made the night better for me is if I could have gotten some rest prior to hitting Footwork after being up since 6am and thereupon working a 10hr day. doh hard times.

Dude, where you even born yet?

Definate contender for party of the year. It's Tuesday? Ugh!

Posted by PurpleHaze on Oct-28-2008 21:01:

Wow where to start....where to start....where to..

After last year I was thinking to myself "how on earth can that set/vibe possibly be beaten?"

Hearing that he was going to preform another 7hr marathon set this year, PLUS the 9-10pm drink-a-thon w/ mingling blew my mind right off the bat....

Drove up to TO at 8pm, pounded back some booze, smoked some green, and off to the races we went!

Got to FW at roughly 9:30pm and was surprised at the no lineup. Walked right past security as if I was a ghost, not checked at all which was weird I thought but meh.

Stepped into FW, SO weird hearing voices instead of opening beats but it was a chill atmosphere....perfect to get an epic night to be started.

Was kinda bummed that Howells didn't show up till 10:30pm and then found out that they lost his vinyls, I was scared for a second...then heard him come out with saying "i still have my cd's, so lets make the best of this!!!!!" AND BAM, the madness commences.

LOOOOOOVE how he just dropped a song that would normally come on around 1-2hrs into his set, great way to pick up the pace off the bat.

Oh ya, those fucking loser pieces of shit in the VIP booth....i wanted to rip their vocal cords out and feed them to the skasians at zone......

ok back to the set

I will say that up until 1-2am he played ON PAR as in just as good as last years which made me really really happy.

All of a sudden howells drops a fucking BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGER and I was like.......FUCK YA, howells is kicking it up not 1, but 2 notches and was drowned in all the fucking layers intertwined in the progy drugy goodness mmmmmmmmmmmm

Around 300am he was up and down and have to say he kind of turned it down a notch and went back up, up and down like a roller coaster which was still very decent.

What can I say, the next time I looked at my clock it was 4:58am and I was like OH no, this night cant be coming to an end, I had just as much as fun as last year which made me/us so happy.

As far as I was concerned, the party never ended and we had to continue his marathon of a set for 20,30,40... more hours (:wtf

.....the chapter has ended

LOL! They were yelling "DJ, DJ, DJ...." and I knew what kind of losers they were...I told a friend "I bet they don't even know who Howells is"...sure enough, my friend asked, and they had not clue....they just wanted music, any music.

Its a real shame that these losers were here at all, taking the place of actual fans who were denied entrance....how about a skill testing question before you are allowed entrance into the club next year

Posted by LKD on Oct-28-2008 21:18:

are u guys refering to the seating area across the stage to the left in the corner as vip? cos those people in fact are comprised of some TAs too (well it opened up to everyone much later in the night..saw alot of randoms) and even the non TAs that were there i knew and they knew who howells was and have even seen him several times before...so please refrain from assumptions

Anyway, not meaning to insult anyone here...there was a mixed bag of people everywhere, i'm pretty sure the people to whom i'm referring weren't TAs...

Regardless, no insults intended to dedicated fans. Lets keep this thread positive like it has been so far...
