It might have gone a bit better if the topic had been "defend your genres."

No need. I just wanted to point out the irony involved, but I'm sure everyone caught it without out my help.
But on a serious note I don't follow Techno blindly. I listen to dub techno, minimal techno, detroit techno, hard techno, and some hip-hop.
FUNKY CLUB TRANCE ?

most edm, dance is made up off other genre's anyway so
oh psy and techno is the most cleverly made edm that exists, ever!
I'm into House, Electro/Deep/Funky. I find that sharing House with my friends is a little easier than say Trance. With Trance it's a little too much for them. I enjoy epic uplifting Trance like Armin, Tiesto, Above & Beyond etc. Deadmau5 works well with most people, as does Miguel Migs. House is just cool imo.

I like minimal techno and deep house for clubs and to listen to while playing games. It's amazing how the simplicity and intricacy of minimal can be groovy at a club. At first I used to like Trance but now I rarely listen to it, I almost feel ashamed whenever I would listen to an epic trance track and say to myself "I used to listen to this?". A genre I've always loved is RnB and some hip hop. Rock if I'm in the mood for it. And also 70s/80s disco.
I never understood though, why a lot of people in this forum have moved on to psy. Never liked it (too fast) and think it's kinda weird.
big beat caus its tough
