Changes from what I can see:

No additional stereo outputs through USB ?

The FX section has independent delay and reverb per patch (even in multi mode),
along with multiple distortion/lo-fi algorithms, phaser, chorus/flanger, character
control
, ring modulator/shifter

"25% more voices" -- a pretty small upgrade.. was expecting double

the only thing which happened to the inside of the virus is the update of the DSP to the latest incarnation. everything is still the same (USB 1.1, board layout,....) it's just a visual 2009 refresh not a new virus. it doesn't even say "Virus TI 2" on the back.

i'm pretty sure it will have the same price like the TI 1.

I don't see it being much more expensive if at all.

Yeah, I think those disappointed with the upgrades they were hoping for are looking at the new TI in the wrong way.

This is in no way a new synth as such. Its still the same TI with the software update benefiting all existing TI users. They have made some asthetic changes and got a bit more power out of the new hardware units but this is still essentially the same TI thats been out for a while.

Marc, over at infekted.org has mentioned that the TI is in for the long run and will continue to be updated in the future as long as it is technically feasible to do so.

As an existing TI owner, I am more than happy with the new update

Nice! I really like the new look! Just waiting for a price confirmation.
OS3 looks very good, but will it warrant the quite steep price.. Not sure at this point.
But I recon I will be ordering my polar as soon as the Norwegian currency redeems itself.
I have been looking at a mac pro recently too, so Ill have to decide what I want the most.

OMG!!
Awesome!
And just when I was afraid my Ti would go extinct... it's gonna get even better

Has anyone besides me had problems with the new OS? When I open Viruscontrol in my host, it claims thats it's disconnected...

it works here. but some controls are broken (EQ, phaser and arp) in the VC though on the hardware itself everything works.

it took me 3 installs to get it working ok

Posted by Sean Walsh on Jan-16-2009 19:05:

Zero problems for me, installed it and it worked fine.

Same here. So far, so good
First time I ran cubase i didn't see the Ti but after unplugging it it's working fine now.

I love the new effects. Distortion and ringmods are amazing. Hell, the're all amazing

There's one thing I didn't get though:
"...Last but not least, a modification to the main "VCA" algorithm enables OS3 users to design gating FX known from electro and minimal influenced music...."

Do they mean a gator type effect like a trance gate?
How? Where?

Posted by Owsey on Jan-17-2009 14:17:

Working fine now apart from a sync problem, but it's easily fixed. I had to try the installation a few times also.

how do you uninstall it .. just manuel delete all the files ? or is there an uninstaller ?

Posted by Ry Thomas on Jan-17-2009 16:29:

- remove the TI from your computer and remove also any other cable going from the TI to the computer or vice versa and also take it off power
- next remove the TI OS installation from your computer with the help of the "control panel" of the Windows START menu
- restart the PC
- next install OS 3.0 on the PC and connect the TI back whenever the installer asks you to do so

Then also do this with the TI:

Please unplug your TI from the computer, unplug it from power and also take the power supply out of the power socket. Also remove any other cable going from/to the Virus TI.
Next plug back only the power supply into the TI and the power supply back into the power socket. Then reset the unit by holding down the ARP EDIT button for a few seconds while the unit is in standby mode. Whenever this is done and the TI has booted up correctly, connect it back to the computer and try it again.

and with having said that, i also want to sex the new TI all night long as well.. the tape delay is freakin' sexy!

mix the tape delay with the freq shifter, and top it all off with some mad distortion and you have yourself the recipe for total mayhem!

i've never wanted a piece of hardware this much in my life.
