Originally posted by Yohan really. after all that, and if you are still willing to kill someone with a gun, you deserve to be eliminated from the gene pool for being too stupid. i've never been there, but after hearing couple of testimonies and some videos about canadian military prison, i know i never want to visit such unpleasant place. there's no beating involved. but it's not a fun place to be
Supposidly he wanted two seats on the train and thats why he got shot.

Originally posted by ~C~ do u use the TTC (Subway esp.) during rush hour? can u imagine the build up of the crowd having to wait to go through those things? The TTC needs to move fast...or it's useless and becomes dangerously overcrowded way too easily!!! BLOOR/YONGE STN ANYONE? metal detectors NOT a good idea in this case. Plus, i don't want to live in a world where everywhere u go, there's some form of security measure u have to deal with. That's just too much!! gunfire on a subway platform NEVER happens, and i doubt this is something we're going to see again anytime soon....at least i hope not.

Originally posted by Orko This stupid argument again? He did not shoot the victim because he lost his high paying job, and had to rob some random guy with a gun he just stole. If poverty is was directly related to violent crime, then every immigrant stepping off of a plane would be running around stabbing and shooting people. The majority of poor people are poor due to a lack of experience, education, lack of employable skills, proper financial planning or a combination of the above. There is a lot of white collar crime that you do not see and that is not reported, which is committed by people who earn a decent wage.

Subway shooting suspect a mystery
Victim recovers at home as police probe video
January 24, 2009
Michele Henry
CRIME REPORTER
The lone victim of this week's subway shooting has been released from the St. Michael's Hospital emergency department and is recovering with his family, police say.
"He's at home resting," Det. Sgt. Greg Cole said of the 19-year-old victim, who was shot in the abdomen and thigh amid throngs of commuters on the Osgoode subway station platform Wednesday morning.
Investigators have been interviewing witnesses and poring over surveillance video gathered from the Downsview subway station and off southbound Jane St. TTC buses. They are confident they will soon put a name to the suspect's face, which was captured on different surveillance cameras throughout the TTC. They believe the suspect possibly travelled downtown, from North York.
"We're looking at all different leads and sides," Cole said.
Police were called to Osgoode subway station at 10:47 a.m. Wednesday after shots were fired on the platform and the victim was left lying on the mezzanine.
The victim told police he recognized the man's face but does not know his identity. In a bid to jog the memories of potential witnesses or to pressure the suspect to surrender to police, detectives released additional video yesterday of the suspect walking through Downsview subway station.
The suspect is described as black, about six feet tall with a light complexion, of medium build, between the ages of 20 and 27.

Police Release New Video Of Subway Shooting Suspect
Friday January 23, 2009
CityNews.ca Staff
They now know where he got on - and they certainly know where he got off.
But investigators are still missing key details in Thursday's subway shooting at Osgoode Station and they're hoping you can help fill in the blanks.
Toronto Police have released new video of the suspect in the gunplay that outraged and frightened commuters and shut a portion of the University line down for hours.
Police have been able to pinpoint that the man in the Blue Jays cap (top left) entered the subway at the Downsview Station. They believe he came off a Jane St. bus, which may indicate the area of the city where he lives.
They're working on isolating video from the cameras that now ride everywhere on TTC vehicles and hope it will show the exact stop where he actually boarded. Police say the footage has been invaluable to this point.
"We're very confident that we will be effecting an arrest in short order," said Insp. Mario Di Tommaso.
Detectives also reveal that Toronto's Most Wanted was on the same train with the victim he's accused of shooting, when both got off at the Queen St. West station downtown.
It doesn't appear they were there together but police confirm they have evidence that the man who suffered the bullet wounds to the abdomen is at least somewhat familiar with his alleged assailant, although he doesn't know him by name.
The new video shows the suspect walking through Downsview station on his way to the platform. He goes down an escalator and heads to the train, which he will eventually board and ride downtown with the victim in the same car.
See the video here.
It's still not clear what led to the conflict that resulted in the shooting but cops are hoping to learn more as they track his movements.
The suspect is described as:
Black,
Light complexion,
20-27,
6'-6'2",
Medium build.
He was wearing a New Era Toronto Blue Jays baseball cap with the new logo, a black fur-lined winter parka, black pants and black Nike Air Jordan running shoes with 'Nike System' on the side.
Meanwhile, the wounded man (seen in the exclusive CityNews footage, below) has vastly improved and been released from hospital. He's now back home with his family, but police have not released his name.
Cops are urging anyone who may know where the gunman is to be careful. He escaped before officers and the ETF arrived but he's still armed and considered dangerous. If you see him, don't approach him. Call 911 immediately instead.
Like police, TTC officials were also busy Friday, reassuring shaken riders that the service is still a safe option thanks to a host of cameras, convex mirrors, two-way intercoms and 103 special constables.
"The TTC remains one of the safest transit systems in the world, we have an exemplary safety record," insists spokesman Brad Ross.
Some aren't so sure.
"It scared me because of the location," admitted one rider named Sheila Fennell. "I could have been on the platform."
