My first contact with trance music was 1994 and the record was named
Paul van Dyk - The Green Valley E.P.
for me one of his best records ever, besides for an angel.
1993 for me
good ol' Platipus
Ummmmmm around 2001?
My brother was listening to some oakenfold set.. And I kinda liked it.I was already liked big beat bands like Fatboy slim, chemical bros and prodigy years before and I decided to venture into this new genre.
Then I stumbled upon a PVD concert.. and I WAS LIKE WOW! The atmosphere..the massive tunes..
The rest is history
around 1997.. my private tutor told me to go hang out with him and his friends and they brought me to a rave. they said i'd enjoy it. i was instantly blown away. then him and his friends guided me through my early days of trance : ) now im hooked forever
Muzik's (Dance) has been in my blood since birth!
Was into all kinds and grew up w/Disco(ya I'll admit it), club and Techno. I was into underground R&B for a while.
Then I got drawn back in, around 87 with "New Order"
In 88 I went to Europe and completely missed it. EDM was supposed to hit me there bcuz I was on an express bus to Algeciras(spain) for Morocco, and actually passed by the fireworks coming from ibiza. I was like AMAZED
and I could feel the NrG coming off the island. Boy do I feel like kicking myself for not getting off
It's strange for me to miss out, i mean i started my Euro trek from Amsterdam. Ah, if only I could travel back in time.....things wud'v been done different
Orbital's music hit me in 95 followed by Robert Miles "Children" an then Chem Bros and Prodigy. Those were confusing years for me. I still liked dance but every radio station I turned to was pushing the hip hop
In 1999 Napster Opened my eyes
!
In 2k I dl'ed Gatecrasher (by accident) and the rest is history. I've been a trancer ever since. Whatever they have to say about Nap and AG is BS--They were the best! I bought more CD's when I dl'd from Nap than I ever had before.
In 2001 I burned some crasher CD's and gave it away. But it was like a wall--People didn't want to understand it.
Imagine my surprise when I heard DJ FuZion at Bpmtv (TO, CA) and then I was hooked for life. That led me here to TA
I will forever be a noob bcuz I keep discovering old and new stuff that just blows my mind. I'm the one lonely sheep in my flock that get's it. Oh well, atleast I got TA's with me
I don't know excactly.
First song was System F- Out of the blue if i remember correctly
talk about a thread that instills nostalgia... Despite my lowly tit status, I first got into trance in late 2000 through a friend's friend.. first set was ferry - trance energy 2000.. to this day still one of my fav sets.
I started to listenin' EDM (mostly cheese, eurodance and gabber) when I was 15 (2000). I started to like trance more and more when I was 17 I believe. Tranceaddict has teached me many things about trance and EDM in general.
Transa - Behind the Sun
That's the song that hooked me in 2000!

2000, strait trance in 02
~1999
the boyfriend of my sister gave me a cd with a lot of tracks which sent me to the sky...
I found this file that was titled:
"Moby - New York Hard House - Groovy Acid - Melodic Trance - 1"
I liked it so much.
Then I discovered tracks such as:
Robert Miles - Children
303 Infinity - TRANCEnding REALITY Winter Hard Rain (Hard Rave Mix)
Gouryella - Gouryella
Three Drives - Sunset on Ibiza
I'm still not sure how authentic these tracks are, but that Moby track was so incredible, and yet I've still never heard anyone mention it.
What really sealed the deal though, was when I heard:
DJ Tiesto - Live at Trance Energy 2000
This must have all been around 98 - 2000
I was just telling someone this yesterday...Believe it or not I got into trance by playing FIFA 2002. That game has a great soundtrack. It has Tiesto - Flight 643, Gouryella - Tenshi, and Conjure One - Redemption (Max Graham Remix). After getting hooked on those tracks, I checked out Tiesto's livesets on Napster or Morpheus or whatever. Now I have my own decks, vinyl, and lots of trance CDs to call my own.
I was like 7 years old kinda. My cousin would listen to like sash - ecuador and encore fois and like atb's songs. I also remember listening to prodigy - i am a firestarter sometime in my life.
My cousin started out by giving me some club & dance tracks. Then I found DJ Doboy and dled his sets from newsgroups
. Then some girl who I was working with for a summer project thingy (saratogahigh.com) listened to di.fm.
Then.. yea
actually, I started listening to scooter tracks in 97-98 (still like the old scooter tracks), an then I started to listen to more euro/happy hardcore, and then, trance. and now I listen to all kinds of electronic music, inluding progressive, techno, house, goa/psy etc... I learn more & more every day.
what's trance?
