Good job, way to bash someones opinion. Post something relevant and stop derailing threads.

Yeah, I'm trying to think of a way to solve that problem. It's incredible how every debate quickly becomes a discussion about something related to the Middle East.

Which isn't a problem in and of itself. If every thread turned into meaningful discussions about the history and culture of the region and policy implications, etc., that would be perfectly interesting and pertinent. But it's the dumb religious slander and ridiculous exaggerations that are driving this sub-forum into the ground.

NEVER!! KAMIKAZE STYLE!

Side note, for some reason I'm getting the feeling as though I have hurt some of the members feelings. If I did in any way I want to apologize, it is not my intention to do so. Coming into PDD you should acknowledge the fact that different opinions are going to clash.

In other news... I'M YO DADDY.

nobody's feelings have been hurt. we're simply sick and tired of the idiotic mantras as espoused by little children like yourself that seem to think global politics is one big game of of cloak and dagger. people that seem to think their access to the internet means they know far more than all the people who might investigate the topic(s) at hand for a living, and then accuse everyone who disagrees with them as getting their knowledge from fox news.

the ultimate irony being that such people have virtually no capacity for judging the respectability of sources, and their tenuous grip on reality is paraded like its some kind of virtue.

Actually your just sick and tired of people having opposing viewpoint. Grow up, in this world we do have the internet meaning we don't need to live like sheep's and do some research instead of just watching bullshit portrayed over the media.

The Fox news statement I said was more a figure of speech. Just because people hear something out-of-ordinary something that hasn't been given media time they disregard it as being false.

This road goes both ways.

I have the feeling as though before I started posting id PDD everyone agreed with everything for the fear of getting a negative impression from the members (I may be wrong). pkc you constantly bring in your emotions within debates thus blinding your path to view both sides.

Remember at the end of the day we're here as the unification of trance music. Even though we are greatly different in idealism, we share same music taste ...(i think )

wrong. i love the opposing viewpoints, and its pretty much the only reason i come to the PDD. juvenile understanding of politics however annoys the crap out of me. not to mention the disingenuous and dishonest conduct that normally goes hand in hand with it.

this would have more impact if you didn't seriously think that the US invaded afghanistan for the opium. im still laughing about that.

so why dont you use it properly? with all this knowledge at your fingertips why are you trying to tell us the holocaust has been exaggerated 1000%, that the US/israel was behind 911, and there was opium conspiracy behind afghanistan? you're actually insulting this wonderful tool of knowledge.

but that's where you're wrong. we disregard it because its blatant nonsense and just doesn't pass the logic test. most of us don't need to be "told" by the media that something is clearly bullshit.

you're talking as if your opinions i have mentioned above hold some validity or deserve careful consideration. they don't.

then stop wasting your brain away with nonsense conspiracy and turn it towards something meaningful, interesting and worthy of debate. ie, there is no debate. its called denialism.

quote:

Denialism: the employment of rhetorical tactics to give the appearance of argument or legitimate debate, when in actuality there is none. These false arguments are used when one has few or no facts to support one's viewpoint against a scientific consensus or against overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They are effective in distracting from actual useful debate using emotionally appealing, but ultimately empty and illogical assertions.

Examples of common topics in which Denialists employ their tactics include: Creationism/Intelligent Design, Global Warming Denialism, Holocaust Denial, HIV/AIDS Denialism, 9/11 conspiracies, tobacco carcinogenecity denialism (the first organized corporate campaign), anti-vaccination/mercury autism denialism and anti-animal testing/animal rights extremist denialism. Denialism spans the ideological spectrum, and is about tactics rather than politics or partisanship.

We believe there are five simple guidelines for identifying denialist arguments. Most denialist arguments will incorporate more than one of the following tactics: Conspiracy, Selectivity, False Experts, Impossible Expectations/Moving Goalposts, and Argument from Metaphor/violations of informal logic.

Well said. The internet is a wonderful resource, but people who believe any cloak and dagger conspiracy they read are just deceiving themselves - real research is still done by serious people outside the internet.

I just saw that Hitchens spoke on this a few days ago.

he used the term "rape" of free speech, i think it was absolutely fitting. free countries' speech should definately not be subservient to the collective conscience of passionate islamic countries.

Damn, the resolution finally went through?

They've been advocating against this "Defamation of Religion" thing for almost a year on WDCX (Christian radio station based out of Buffalo).

Great to see the UN has given up protecting freedom of speech.

I'd be interested to know exactly what constitutes "defamation". Would a Jewish Rabbi or Christian Pastor declaring their belief that their religion is right, and Islam is wrong, be enough to be declared "defamation". Correct if I'm wrong here, but I believe that most Islamic leaders in the middle east would declare it to be so.
