Haha, not quite. Consider that the cultural difference between Australia and Fiji could be quite considerable, making them very different places to be. Lounging around a resort is one thing, but once you leave there, it's not going to be the same any more.

Jamie's blonde hair really shines through in these instances.

you guys are douchebags. i meant scenery-wise. obviously everything in between is different.

to me, i'm just an american living in south florida and both fiji & fraser island sound like south pacific dream vacations...very exotic, etc...

Well, you didn't specify, did you? I'm not too familiar with Fiji's scenery, so I couldn't really say.

One thing though. I wouldn't recommend swimming in the ocean on the eastern side of Fraser Island. It's a breeding ground for tiger sharks

There's a really cool spot there though, called Indian Head. It's basically this big cliff/rock type thing, and you can sit up on the top of it and watch the tiger sharks catching the waves in to chase fish. So awesome.

Edit: This is Indian Head, from the air

nice. that sounds awesome.

and even though i'm obsessed with fiji and bora bora, i always think about swimming in the water there and it scares me. i guess i'm just used to the warm atlantic and i've done lots of snorkeling and been on boats since i was little and i just feel like i "know" the atlatic water more than over there. does that sound weird? lol

Mildly weird, yes Ocean is ocean to me. I just try not to swim where there are sharks

Edit: Nice pic, is that Fiji? Looks like it might be a more 'tropical' location than Fraser Island.

yea it's fiji

Looks pretty fucking cool. Aside from the resort(s), what other stuff is there to do in Fiji?

this is just a stab in the dark, but i'm just gonna say "sit on your ass on the beach in a bikini drinking daquiris and absorbing the awesomeness"?

Gotcha.

Sadly, I look shit in a bikini. Daquiris I can deal with, however

Posted by Slylee on Apr-22-2009 00:52:

no but i'd probably do the other typical things like kayak and snorkel and go on hikes, etc...

Us west coasters (west coast FL) go to the atlantic and freeze our asses off... gulf water is like bath water...

Atlantic = big waves, nice beaches and cold water
Gulf = no waves, shelly beaches, and warm water..

both have their pros and cons..

I'm in Afghanistan on my way to Australia for 2 weeks with a stopover for a few days in New Zealand.

On the way home it looks like I'll get a 3 day layover in Dubai, UAE.

So in the next couple weeks I'll have been all over Afghanistan, Kuwait, UAE, Australia and New Zealand.

I live in Florida.

I'll post some highlights when I return from all in a few weeks.

bring be afghani ha$H! there is no penalty i promise you.

seriously though, whenever returning army walks around anywhere here(sore thumbs), they scare the shit out of the local thugs-like these punks that do random smalltime extorsion that act like they own the malls. really funny to watch.

yea but in comparison to the pacific ocean, the atlantic is warm. i know the gulf is pretty warm too but i'm not a fan of the west coast of florida beaches at all. the water is usually kinda murkey and green and everyone raves about the sand being like flour but i don't like it. the beaches over here are gorgeous and on most days, i look at the ocean here and it looks exactly like i'm in the bahamas or something. it's that bright turquois color and you can see like 30 ft down right off the shore.

my uncle lives on redington beach (i think that's the name), it's right near madeira beach. not a fan at all.

ps-i have a shirt that says Kuwait on it lol my dad's been all over the middle east during the gulf war back in the day.

Personally, I hated the beach. Everytime I go to the beach, I found myself bored after 5 minutes.

i can't go for hours or anything but a good hour and a half of just listening to the waves and soaking up some sun and breeze and i'm good to go. you'd be amazed at what just 45 min at the beach can do for you, mentally. the only time i can go all day is if there's a big bbq/party or something and a game of volleyball is going on, etc...

If I wanted to just lie down and relax, I'd just lie in bed
