Honestly, I could have been overreacting but I went to the doctors today because I was convinced I had the swine flu. I had every single one of the symptoms and because I work in the travel industry I was seriously concerned.

The nurse backed up when I told her my symptoms and they took such precautions with me. Pretty intense. Turns out I have bronchitis. Oink Oink.

vaccine is a preventative measure, but obviously you can still get sick even after a flu shot

it's like any other flu - you're sick for a while, and if you're not a Mexican or a 23 month baby, you get back to normal

last night on News @ 11 they had a girl that brought it back from Mexico - sure she's sick, but nothing horrible

From my understanding they are working on a vaccine to cure as well as prevent.

Oz - how can a vaccine be a cure? a vaccine usually holds a weak version of the disease to help the body build a stronger immune "block" against the real thing.. so essentially, you have to be healthy to get the flu shot

I've read that health officials don't know yet why the strain in mexico appears more harmful than strains outside of Mexico.
But generally stuff like this affects old people and kids first because of the weaker immune system they have.
