well... It's hard to explain. I had always heard that saying about "you'll know" and I thought it was bullshit. But it wasn't. It just became really obvious right away... that feeling of the butterflies (pardon my emo speak) never went away and for a guy who was deathly afraid of the idea of marriage and didn't care if never happened, I REALLY wanted to be married to her. All of the problems I had in the past with other girls didn't exist, and still dont- no drama, never complains if and when I spend time with freinds, even if it means flying to other cities for a weekend, gets along awesome with my parents, and the list goes on. For the first time, I never had the "what if the grass is greener on the other side" thoughts.

i'm actually really nervous to get married. only because i know it seems to jinx a lot of couples lol everyone is always happy until they get married. it's so discouraging.

i can honestly say that my biggest fear in life is getting cheated on by my husband or having a failed marriage for whatever reasons...especially when kids are involved. ughh...i dunno if i could handle that. it's scary. my bf and i have talked about it and i know he's gonna pop the question some day, probably even later this year, who knows...but sometimes when we talk about it, it's like i'm happy, but inside my heart starts beating a little faster like 'oh shit, this is for real'.

I think that's a pretty common fear with married couples. No one wants a failed marriage but then you hear numbers like 1 out of 3 marriages end up in divorce and it's like oh shit

Posted by squirrelly on May-28-2009 19:03:

I don't have that fear. I used to. I don't know, when I'm around him... it's like everything settles and nothing scares me. Every insecurity I ever had just disappeared. The only thing I genuinely feel is that something will happen to him (like an accident) and he'll get taken from me.

Agreed...apart from myself being the one giving birth. I've always thought that if I was given one wish, it would be to be 'content'. That way it covers everything, money, women job etc. You can't get fucked over with an answer like that.

haha... yeah even if you're excited, the moment it becomes "real" and there's no turning back, a certain sense of added responsibility washes over you. And for me, I was irresponsible for most of my life (not counting school and work). But if you're in the right relationship, that feeling is just a flash in the pan. It feels great to be married for me. ALthough, I do imagine when kids become part of the equation, things do become REALLY real. lol

my bf isn't a citizen so he kinda needs to get his paperwork done or marry me. i know it wouldn't be very romantic to get married just so he can be official here but whatever. a girlfriend of mine is only 25 and she has been married for 4 years and she married her husband so he could be a citizen. she met him in argentina when she was 17 and a foreign exchange student. they've been dating for ever. he's a pilot and travels a lot and she is still in school. i was talking with her the other night about how patrick isn't a citizen and she was like, "well if u guys know you're it for each other, just get married. who cares what people say" and i was like, "yea i guess" but then i got that worried feeling again like, "omg marriage". lol

Posted by squirrelly on May-28-2009 19:11:

Marriage is a one time deal for me. I'm only doing it once. And I know I'm with the right person, so weirdly, nothing scares me anymore. Not even marriage statistics!
