Gotcha... so you dont know the value of a hard earned dollar? I see where u are coming from then.

I dont see how demanding that someone do their job well is being lazy and self righteous. Perhaps expecting to get paid to do nothing is more along those lines?

I have about 15 items on the belt and she goes "Are you going to need a bag?"

How else am I going to carry this shit outta here lady?

That was me at Sobey's the other day. I think they do it propa here... She askes me if I'll need bags, and I'm not expected to answer. She fills the bags, then adds on the the bill how many I needed.

No guesswork, full service.

One of these days I'm going to write about the plastic water bottles. They're the real waste, both economic AND environmental. It's practically criminal the way that shit is peddled.

Totally agree with you Aaron. I would also add that the city's beloved condo's should have firmer rules on how they manage their waste.

Ah, the irony of somebody who's never worked a day in her life calling me lazy.

I wonder, what did this full-time student do during the strike? Work? Study? Hmm...

Do you even cook half of those groceries you buy, or do you just eat them straight out of the can?

I'll repeat - expecting other people to do the jobs they are being paid to do is not laziness. Taking it up the ass when told to do it yourself is spinelessness, and cursing everybody else who sees it for what it is is just moronic.

The school year goes from september to april.

During the summer (and minimally during the school year), I work in a hardware shop (working HARD with my hands for my HARD-EARNED dollars) and teach english to immigrants. I also take freelance translation contracts.

All I said was that I don't work cash registers.

Excellent debate skills. Jumping to conclusions only leads to ignoratio elenchi. look it up.

The fact that you would pick those words, and immediately say to look it up, is a pretty clear indicator of what you're really trying to prove in here.

For the record, what you actually said was that jumping to conclusions leads to a red herring, which doesn't even make sense. Nice going Ms. Language Expert.

Posted by Ania_xox on Jun-05-2009 20:31:

Red Herring is an entirely different fallacy... if I remember correctly from logic class, it is a misrepresentation of the opponent's argument.

Ignoratio elenchi (also called Missing The Point) is a name given to a fallacy in reasoning that does not qualify as a Red Herring, Straw Man, Slippery Slope, etc. It is the most generic of the 20 some-odd recognized fallacies.

I just used a general term for flawed reasoning in the hopes that you would start an argument about arguments like you always do. Have fun crafting a reply that I will not be reading.

Good day

Posted by DigiNut on Jun-05-2009 20:44:

Great, so let's say you "remember correctly" (and that's just one of two possible interpretations) - your statement then becomes, "jumping to conclusions leads to missing the point."

That makes MUCH more sense!

Don't you have anything better to do than try to demonstrate to everyone how smart and well-educated you are(n't)?

Sorry Ania, but the fact that you're willing happily waste your own time arranging groceries in bags while you pay somebody else for the privilege does not make you more dynamic and industrious than anybody else, and certainly doesn't justify your lame 3rd-grade insults.

what in the name of crap are you babbling about?

edit: I still think this discussion is entirely pointless as it's being blown way out of proportion. However, you're just embarrassing yourself by putting random words next to each other in an attempt to sound coherent.

Anis is the type of person who would rather grow their own food and hew their own wood i guess. Otherwise she relies on customer service EVERYDAY!

People who bemoan convenience, efficiency, and the benefits of capitalism really are ignorant to how lucky we are to live in this system. And its that ignorance that is tearing our society down thread by thread. People have fought and died to get what we are now whittling away. Our system is definitely not perfect, but its the best we have been able to come up with so far. Its a bloody shame how we are dismantling it and replacing it with ideas that have failed over and over again due to a complete ignorance of the past.
