Lots of different theories out there, but from what I have read the consensus seems to be 2010 for the initial stages of recovery.

i loathe my job and i'm looking for a new one. well a new career, to be honest. they laid off half our department nearly two months ago, so i might be safe for a little while longer, but not forever. AND no one is hiring right now. fucking recession - i shake my fist at you!

Yes. And you have to consistently work your butt off.

bullshit, working hard is not enough

Some people work their ass off but:

-are anti-social
-their work isn't noticed by the right people
-can't express themselves properly
-working hard doesn't always mean being the most productive...

and if you plan on working hard to get promoted, you have to be at a place for long enough and be patient...

More succinctly expressed as: Effort does not equal outcome.

You have to work hard, but you also have to work at the right things.

Almost all the analysts/economists that correctly foretasted the housing bubble and recession predict it will last much much longer.

That sounds convincing, until you take into account that most of those same analysts were "forecasting" a recession for 10 years before it actually happened.

Economy and markets are cyclical. A broken watch is still right twice a day. If it's showing the same time 2 hours later, that does not mean that time has stopped.

Wow you're hard to impress, but to actually go into detail about the reasons for the recession and to point out which companies would go down is impressive.

Definitely a possibility!
I would not be surprised to see it drag on to 2011...all depends on the american consumer.
