my gym has:

BJJ, gi and no-gi
boxing
kickboxing
kali escrima filipino
judo
full contact TKD
conditioning routines
MMA

amongst the people who train/instruct are:

Marco Tiberi - awesome canadian dude, started out wrestling and boxing, moved on to CSW (trained with Erik Paulson) and then BJJ... also happens to be instructor rank in kali under... Dan Inosanto.

Martin Sanchez - boxing since he was a kid, but more notably, kyokushin karate blackbelt under Nakamura (was sent by Oyama to thailand, first non-thai to win in Lumpinee Stadium, and is the basis for RYU OF STREETFIGHTER)

Aristide Pizzo - 6 time italian flyweight boxing champ, 2 time european EBU champ

Hiroshi Matsunaga - son of Mamoru Matsunaga, kodokan 8th dan, legendary judoka round here

Jesus Yunen - probably the best boxer/kickboxer this country has produced. quit fighting due to diabetes. knocked the fuck out of a US golden gloves when he was still ammy.

BJJ/TKD/MMA - specially these three, but the entire gym is overseen by my head instructor, Omar de la Cruz. 6 time national TKD champ. officially only a purple, but has choked out blackbelts like Seth Horn in competition, aside from completely MANHANDLING Abraham Marte (2008 Mundials Superheavy Gold). in the MMA world, came in 2nd in the BellatorFC welterweight tournament, coming in as the least favorite to win.

http://bellator.com/fighters/Welterweight-(170-lbs-2E)/Omar-De-La-Cruz/details.html

on conditioning - well, safe to say, i lost 60 pounds in three months just by training a little and dieting.

your gym may still be better equipped, or more advanced, or have more resources.

but the price of mine is about $32 US dollars a month.

and wanna know the best part? as of 2009, they basically told me to stop paying. i've brought in so many students, and am so generally broke, they stopped giving a fuck whether i made my payments on time.

Been there, done that. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed competing and I'd do it more if I had time to train, but it's just a sport.

Yeah, they usually do a minimum of two per year. However, they aren't exactly one night tournaments like the old UFC. The preliminary round(s) occur on separate cards, and only the semifinals and finals are done on the same night.

Their welterweight tournament wrapped up a week ago, with Marius Zaromskis scoring two improbable upsets by high kick knockout. It was a great finish to the tournament, though the rest of that card was fairly lackluster.

They have two tournaments in progress, a featherweight tournament and a rather silly open weight "super hulk" tournament (in which 7'2" Korean giant Hong Man Choi beat Jose Canseco in the first round...) The final two rounds of both tournaments will occur on their Oct. 6 card, which will probably turn up on HDNet at some point (it may be broadcast live on HDNet as well, although that would be in the wee hours of the morning in North America.)

In other Japanese tournament action, the final two rounds of the World Victory Road featherweight tournament are coming up on Aug. 2 at Sengoku 9. The tournament is probably Hatsu Hioki's to lose, but Marlon Sandro is very dangerous and Michihiro Omigawa has looked impressive since dropping down to welterweight. I believe this will also be available on HDNet.

Yea I just watched the welterweight one. It was a pretty brutal KO at the final. I have never found the motivation to keep up with many of the Japanese productions tho.

aw fuck thats awesome. If Lesner can beat Fedor, he can keep the belt. That said...not a fuckin chance.

Posted by Inertia on Jul-29-2009 04:50:

despite his chances, whether or not he can beat Fedor, i think he doesn't deserve a shot at Fedor. no one with 5 fights under their belt does.

also, it would NOT be in the UFCs best interest to have Fedor kill Brock now. they want to milk the Lesnar cow a little more, pitting him against guys his own size, have him "dominate" the division, and THEN, when he is the invincible manbeast that kills other beasts his own size, then Fedor can whoop his ass.

more money for everyone.

I can read Dana's mind...TUF season 11, Fedor and Brock as coaches!

Posted by Inertia on Jul-29-2009 05:34:

that'd only work if they allow Fedor to take his TUF team to somewhere where it snows, there's only enough electricity for lightbulbs, there are no mats, only kettlebells, tractor tires and sledgehammers, and you practice striking in parks, topless in camo pants and boots, full-contact with eachother.

Nope they are correct.

The Russian Mob wont adhere to Dana White, well not yet at least.

Evidently this is what Fedor turned down

http://www.mmanews.com/ufc/The-Deal...Emelianeko.html

- The UFC offered Fedor a 6 fight, 30 million dollar contract. That's 5 mil a fight

- The UFC offered Fedor an immediate title shot

- Lesnar/Fedor would be the biggest PPV in MMA history (we assume), and the UFC offered M-1 Global a cut of the PPV on top of Fedor's purse.

- Fedor was free to wear as many M-1 logoed items as he wished.

- The UFC also relented on allowing Fedor to compete in combat sambo.

Now I know this may not be 30 million in guaranteed money, probably a 2.5 to show 2.5 to win like usual UFC contracts, but shit that would still be 15 million in guaranteed $ (and 465 million russian rubles!) on top of the ppv money. If this is true, and this was not taken...we will never see Fedor in the UFC.

something seems off.

that was way more money than i think it would cost to promote events in Russia/sign other guys from Red Devil, which were demands in previous negotiations with Fedor. i don't think Dana would be that generous just in order to stick to his policies.

i also think Fedor would probably agree to those terms posted. hrmmm... probably with the added demand he can fight in any MMA event held in Russia.

but time will let us know i guess.

I'd have to agree, the numbers seemed way higher than any current UFC fighter. The originating source is from LA times again, who were the ones who posted that article on monday that the deal was being finalized. So I'm not sure who to believe, but I do think that Fedor's manager and owner of M-1 Vadim is making all these decisions for him. I think Fedor needs more control over this stuff. Vadim is just trying to spread the name of his company, and using Fedor as the flag to do it.

Time will tell though

So did he get offered that much money or not?

Either way, it's not looking good.
