Even insignificant turds are better than whiners.

+1. Unless, of course, he's from Rio. Whining is their favourite pastime there... or so it seems.

everything else is but a pitiful facsimile. Club culture killed the rave, but it was good for the exposure of the music (good and bad...good = easier to get into it/ bad = superstar dj). The rave era was cool, but let's move on.

No, they need to keep their individuality.

i really think you should get over your cold war envy. not everyone can be the pigeon, some people have to be the statue.

Posted by boris_the_bear on Aug-25-2009 14:07:

The Primary raves (the best I ever went to) didn't fit these criteria. Huge color fliers, and the location clearly printed. But in general, you've got it.
One of the best fliers I ever saw was for one of the "...It" parties (Philly area?). It was like 6 pages long, and had a whole page just describing the process of creating it (before everyone had Photoshop). I used to have massive stacks of them, even traded with people in the UK. Damn water damage.

if it wasn't illegal, chances are that it was not a rave

and by not advertised yes there were flyers, but no threads on the internet/paper and done in ways so that the cops could not catch on.

They weren't illegal because they hadn't been criminalized yet. The guys who knew their shit got permits, and they were very much raves. I remember seeing a cop once at Electric Blue (Primary rave) bouncing on the outskirts of the dancefloor. If he hadn't been in uniform, I have no doubt he'd have been cutting loose.

i've seen fire fighters on the dance floors of the massives in los angeles giving kids lightshows.

last one i went to my friend was rolling & walked up to a cop, thanked him for his service & shook his hand. the cop said, "i hope your hands don't have acid on them."
