This is going to be a great night, can't wait!! I got the see Kandi a couple months ago and was quite impressed. I've never see Durand before but am excited to see to hear what he's up to.

Does anyone know the set times yet?

Hello! TA MEETUP

PATIO outside the grill @ 11PM!

Look for me & my hoops!

Posted by DaveT on Sep-06-2009 01:27:

lol, you all make it sound so easy.

Is my name on any list? And past 11pm! I'd have to be sure my son was asleep before heading out.

But beyond that, have to talk to Michelle who won't be home until later. I just can't say I'm going out and take off...especially when she likes the same music, heh.

Now about the parking....cause getting a ride prob won't be a viable option.

There is no list after 11PM, I guess give Loc/Johnny a call when you get to the club. (They might even be hanging out near the club entrance). I will PM you their phone numbers along with mine.

Thanks. Got it.

We'll see what happens. No guarantees. Woudl like to get out though.

Posted by approximalia on Sep-06-2009 02:25:

I'm soooo excited! OK, no more internets for me, gotta go get ready, lol.

Posted by xCxStylex on Sep-06-2009 03:10:

..... Wow.

IS he not playing @ Atlantis then? wow. that sucks for the people @ Atlantis that wanted to see him.

It would be nice to cancel or postpone gigs and shows +/- 1 week around the due date, but heck, im pretty sure Motive Events doesn't care. They've already got the tickets sold.

Whelp, I can't go because I totally forgot Michelle had plans with a friend of hers after she had to cancel last weekend.

Totally skipped my mind until she got home and reminded me.

That said, we are def trying to make it out for aly & fila. Fila was amazin' when I saw him the first time he lpayed at 1015 in SF.

Oh crap!, please do try to get a booking like this. I was at both Simon Patterson and Sean Tyas last year at Nikita (Circus) last year. They are truly epic and since they collaborate alot with production they should be on the same night if possible.

My friends who went last night said it was awesome.

Posted by lowski on Sep-06-2009 20:33:

hahah apeattack you missed a crazy night man. Durand really threw down an impressive set. Honestly I wasn't too sure what to expect from him but he played a deadly mix of tracks. Lots of on the fly remixes, a style that would be perfect at EDC. then of course kandi, played some really nice high energy uplifters to finish of the night.
Even the set up was different and sounded better the usual. I like having the main speakers on each side of the mixing booth, gave the overall sound a lot more bass!!

Posted by modthispny on Sep-07-2009 01:54:

had a pretty damn good time. i prefer this layout over andy moors and thrillseekers layout.

durand was awesome and i stayed a bit for daniel kandi.

cant wait to do it again

Posted by el3ctro on Sep-07-2009 04:14:

GREAT night at circus. the stage setup was awesome. the sound was great. the djs were incredible. daniel kandi hung around outside after 4'o'clock until nearly 5am when we had to get pushed out into the parking lot.

im a fan of ajunabeats so it was very nice to get to see daniel kandi

im pretty sure i heard daniel kandi play some songs from anjunabeats volume 7, i think he played venice beach....

ah i had so much fun.. it was everything i had expected it to be... nothing short of incredible!
and even though daniel kandi didnt start playing until 2am, there was still a strong crowd until the end... i dont usually see that many people stay until the end. they must have known what was good

its gonna be really hard to forget daniel kandi's set, though...... and i didnt even get a chance to talk about how fucking good richard durand was yet... richard durand did something with those turntables that was just unnatural... that man has talent....

does anyone know how to change the screen name?

Posted by in2muzikk on Sep-08-2009 03:52:

Sorry for the delay, but just getting my pix up after an unexpected trip to Home Depot since my doorknob broke...lol...all is well now, though! So onto the review...

Oh man, what a night! I couldn't believe how many TA's were at Circus...from the moment I walked in around 10 p.m. I was chatting with everyone outside until it was already time to take the TA pic at 11! Was nice catching up with everyone, but I only heard a few of DJ Robert Stern's songs (which were great)...others told me that his set really went off, though!

When Richard Durand came on, I turned to my friend and said "I feel like I'm at Trance Energy now"...It's hard to describe it, but the music took on a different sound, very European, and I liked it very much. Best of all, Richard's mixing was beyond comprehension, he would mix out of one song, then back into it and then into another other one back and forth...sometimes I wasn't even sure what the "main" track was, but everything flowed smooth as water through the canals of Amsterdam (actually, I have no idea how smooth the water flows through the canals of Amsterdam, but it sounds like a good metaphor!)

Went outside for a breather and ran into yet another friend (not a TA though), and in walked Daniel Kandi! Very nice, down to earth DJ...I immediately thanked him for putting up with America and spending 6 hours in customs to come play for us...that was 3 times as long as his set! Solid Trance tracks, and he grabbed the mic during his set to thank Above & Beyond and Armin van Buuren for helping him get through the customs nightmare, and played a good number of Anjunabeats anthems. We walked out of the club with him at 4 a.m. and chatted in the parking lot for awhile.

I learned that Denmark taxes the rich at something like 70% to equalize wealth and people are not so happy about the high levels of taxation there. I thought of my visit a few years ago to Copenhagen, when I met strangers from different countries and hung out with them like we had known each other for years. Women strolled alone on the streets at 4 a.m. like it was broad daylight, and I felt very safe while there. I even tried to tip the hotel maids when they brought me fresh towels (since I was too lazy to wake in time for them to clean the room) and received only smiles back, they were too proud to take my money! Maybe there's some good compromise, as I loved visiting that city, and very much want to go back soon!

Back to the night, I was happy to see Circus so packed, even with DJ's who are not ranked "top of the polls," but who have such a command of music with enthusiasm to match. It IS, in the end, all about the music!
