Yea I liked it when he played that too
bah! bass totally killed the audio on most of my videos
def time for a new camera
Ihadagoodnight.com<-------this freakin sign always managed to get in front of everyone in every set. it started to get annoying after the second or third time. wanted to grab that light sign and smash it.
alright, maybe its a little too harsh, but get out of the way

What a weekend! I was really considering if I should fly down from Seattle just for this, and now I can tell you it was worthy! I am glad to be part of the first big EDM festival in NYC!
Pros:
Amazing Line-up!!!
Lasers in the tents & the sound everywhere
Not too crowded (there were much less people on Sun, which was suprising!)
Cons:
The order of the line-up. I wish some of the djs that played on Sun were moved to Sat
Drinks. $9 / beer?!?! WTF!!!
Lasers on the main stage
Here are my top 5 performances of the weekend:
1. Steve Angelo - I have never seen him live and he was kicking ass! Despite the fact that I am a trance lover, I vote for him as the best performer at EZ!
2. Ferry Corsten - Everytime I see Ferry he is amazing.. and he never makes a mistake. This was his regular festival set, and despite the fact that he plays similar stuff, I loved it
3. Armin Van Buuren - His set was a big surprice. Started hard and kept on banging for 2 hours!!! However, deadmau5 was def a not good opener for Armin and the transition was kind of sudden. I wish Markus or someone else opened for him.
4. ATB - He really impressed me.. Jumping around, full with energy, Andre showed that he is one of the best djs out there.
5. Markus Schulz - He had a very interesting set. I really liked the mash-up style (never seen anything like that before), but on the other hand, I felt like he was cutting the tracks short.
I was sooo glad to so many NYTAs.. even though I wish I had more time to spend with them. Its always good to be in NYC. I should try to make it there more often!

Both days were amazing but I did enjoy Day 1 better only because there were more people. I was at Sunday and Riverside tent both days and just could not stop dancing.Hawtin,Calderon,Beyer,Paco,Marco man everyone just brought their A game to the max.
I caught 10 minutes of Armin and Markus and was bored out of my mind.Kaskade and Deadmau5 well.... didn't even bother basically with the main stage anymore hah. Breakdown after fucking breakdown with just cheese all over the place.
Made definitely knows what they are doing and I give them a lot of credit for being able to pull this off in NyC. Shout outs to everyone that I met up with and my friends that made this possible for me to come down and party.
No one really mention speedy J but he was amazing as well.
Gabe!! That was so random/awesome when I saw you. I'm going nuts watching richie and kept bumping into the dude dancing in front of me. Turned out it was Gabe!!!!! I seen him turn around with a "wtf man!!" look on his face and gabe was like, ravi?? awww sheeeiiiit. That was pretty tight. Good seeing you man
There are various reviews, mostly of the Sunday School hilltop tent, at the Gradient Magazine website.
Paco, Carola, Ben Watt
Francois K, Luciano, DT, Speedy J
Matthew Dear and Guy Gerber
Beyer and Steve Bug
RICHIE FUCKING HAWTIN. pics AND video!!!!

Armin @ the tobbaco warehouse was the exception . I don't go see PVD at CP anymore because is the same stuff every year "For angel", "Nothing but you ", "The other side", etc , etc |

| Originally posted by BiG MiKE I wasn't too crazy about his set, but he did it strategically. This is his first time (I believe) playing to the largest crowd he ever had in New York. So playing most of his tracks off his TIABM album to that massive crowd was a smart move marketing wise. |

Steve Angello was definitely the set of the weekend for me. I wish he coulda played later in the evening, no biggie though, it was sick regardless. Josh Gabriel started his set with some huge bombs and that place was goin off but we made our way to see Angello partially through it.
Day 1 was wayyy more packed than day 2 which was weird, but also nice, I enjoy having some room. Plus the line getting on those buses back to Harlem took 5 minutes on Day 2 vs. 25 mins on Day 1.
Sadly I think I helped Brooklyn Lager stay in business as I looked at how much money I spent on beer and.....
will have tons of pics and vids up soon once I get back to Seattle from NYC.
Great meetin some of the NYTA's, you guys are too much! Wai, you are nuts and i love ya!
caught the end of josh gabriel... ATRC was nice i guess but desyn playing d&b was a bit
luckily i like d&b so i enjoyed it hehe Was expecting a groovy techy deep house set though.
nathan fake stole the show for me. his live set was so sick! visuals were a nice touch!
holden was great as always but having caught him in LA two nights before for a longer set and in a cozy club environment it was hard to top.
took off right after cause friend thought it was a good idea to dress california rave like and go in our BC tees, (ghostly international like) undies and fluffies and got too cold... fuck was i nervous while in harlem

bumped into polly (dont even think shes on TA...) then melissa, thomas datt and one other person i forgot the name of. bumped into more people i met at wmc than nytas
johnny i totally forgot you went too... ugh i missed out on a bit too much. oh well theres always next time.
rizo, I saw you at the Desyn tent :P
If anyone's interested, here are some of the pics I took (hopefully this'll work, I made the album public):

Going into Guetta ( I was originally at ATB but I thought he was so bad that I went back to the mainstage a few minutes after making the walk to Riverside ), I didn't know what to expect. I had heard things, seen track lists... and none of them pointed towards it being good. But then I showed up and for the hour and a half I was there, he completely destroyed the place and had thousands and thousands of people going buckwild. Yes, he dropped love is gone, sexy bitch... and it was completely different than what I had thought it was going to be like going into it... was much different hearing it on the big system with his beats behind them.
On top of that, he has tons of energy and is really into what he does. I shared my Guetta revelation with some respected local DJs that reside here on TA and even they said that even though his music/style is not for them, they respect him for what he does - he knows his audience and plays towards them and I think if people gave him a chance and didn't just look at the playlist, you'd come to the same conclusion..def. would see him again when he comes around.

It was funny how disappointed I was when I got the text for the after-party at pacha after i was thinking and being almost positive Ferry was going to be there but after Ferry took the mic and said "See you @ Pacha tonite" I went nuts lol ![]() David guetta is horrendous " I can't believe I'm playing at a festival in NY, I'm shivering" lol jerk.......... people really love this guy , huh ? : |
why is everyone hating on ferry? he played a great set! it's not like his tracks sound bad. i actually preferred hearing an all flashover set from him this time around.
here are some of the vids i took:
more on my phone that i will post sometime soon if the audio on them is good.

Its not repetitive to the unexperienced listener!!
please remember that just because WE whore out music and listen to it constantly, he was playing for a massive, inexperienced crowd, that probably doesnt typically listen to every Corsten's Countdown, ASOT, TATW, etc.....and it showed my the very few people who knew any of the words to armin, markus OR Ferry's most popular songs

| Originally posted by yankeeBaby Again, read people's reviews, everyone knows its strategy and everyone also knows that if you wanted to hear the real, hardcore Ferry, that you would have been at pacha. Ferry totally knew what he was doing and played the right thing for the right type of crowd |
