Word. Pat Mahoney came here this past summer and I was all pumped for a night of underground and classic disco, stuff like LCD Soundsystem's Fabric mix. And instead he played mostly house, fewer vocals, some Older Chicago house, etc. Still awesome, just not what I expected.

I've said it a million times here, all I care about regarding mixing is that there is some effort and thought involved. Sometimes lazy mixing works. Sometimes you can play records over each other for 4+ minutes. Whatever works at the moment. For that reason judging live mixing at home is sort of difficult.

like you said, sometimes it works. this time it didn't work for me. only thing that saved this mix for me was the music which is grand.

Look, I'm not even into tons of disco-ey stuff, but I like this mix. That said, the mixing was kind of shoddy, and I'd expect better standards from those of you that actually do DJ. There were a couple of big trainwrecks in there and there's no excuse if you're doing a studio mix for wide publication.

I did too for awhile, but compared to newer toys like Traktor, that thing is piece of shit.

And back to Jamie using turntables, didn't read all the posts but looping could've been done with traktor or serato, but as Jamie proved that isn't always necessary. I actually find myself getting too carried away with the looping feature now days.

Still haven't given this a listen...slacking.

Jamie uses Traktor and vinyl btw, not sure how much of this is Traktor and how much is vinyl. I've been jamming to this in my car all week, where are you guys noticing trainwrecks? Am I just biased because he thought I was Baaz, thereby making me cooler for the 3 seconds it took someone to correct him?
