Mr. JBJ or Mystery please! Maybe we can finally shut Kismet up.

Posted by Tarpex on Oct-08-2009 15:12:

Cryo has clearly stated he can't moderate, give the man a break now.
My vote goes to Digi/JBJ & Eric J!

Unfortunately, you insult people far too regularly to be a moderator.

Sorry to disappoint, but if I became a moderator my goal would not be to "shut people up," even those like Kismet who clearly dislike my attitude and opinions. I would clear the forum of spam and try to discourage things like having ten threads about the same topic in the first few pages of the forum.

jbj and mystery

Posted by denys envy on Oct-08-2009 15:36:

definitely sushipunk, for dj promotion anyway.

Posted by lenazi on Oct-08-2009 15:46:

i just got the pm.

be ready to be entertained...i already banned kismet, stevo, and slylee.

Posted by TranceLover007 on Oct-08-2009 16:05:

All I can say is that all of those guys would do probably good job, no questions. Everyone of them is responsible and self control, who can speak his mind in very polite and persuasive way.

My choice would be definitely: Cryphonik, Nightshift, Erik J and MrJiveBoJingles.

I know that Cryphonik has clearly stated he can't moderate and we all have to respect that decision, but with clear mind which see both side of the story , for me he would be the ONE.

So any of those three musketeers: Nightshift, Erik J and MrJiveBoJingles would be grate candidates.

My 3 cents guys.

LOL, who can refrain from insulting individuals like stevo, DJ_Lord, and kismet anyways?

Oh, I'm not condemning you. I'm hardly noted for my friendly demeanour either. Mods have to keep a smile on their face through constant stupidity and childishness, and there's no way you wouldn't snap.

Posted by woscar on Oct-08-2009 20:08:

Yeah, I know what you mean. The DJ Promotion forum doesn't get much stupidity and childishness really, it's mostly spam, radio shows, off-topic threads, and such. I'm not a huge fan of banning people just for the sake of it, that's actually one of the things I like about TA.

Just today, I made a comment on Mercury Server's Jamie Jones Essential Mix thread asking why they had the set labeled as "Electro" and a mod came back with "That's the way I got the set, and don't see the need to change it. If that's such a big concern of yours, then maybe you should go get laid". LOL

I replied, "Not concerned at all, just pointing out that the label is misleading, since this is nowhere near electro. And that's a really nice attitude you have...being a mod and all ". 5 minutes later, he deleted all the comments, labeled the set "House", and closed the thread, LOL. That's exactly the type of modding I hate. It looks like a gay.

Says who? lol

Mods should do whatever they like to keep the forum clean imo

I've seen mods here talk back before.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Oct-08-2009 20:14:

i volunteer for music producers promotion and production studio, i'm probably one of the most neutral/objective posters in the production studio being that i don't participate in whatever drama kismet7/etc create and while i'm not there posting 24/7 it's easy enough to check the forums with relative frequency. but if i were to suggest anyone else i would say that DigiNut is probably most qualified for those forums

honestly apart from organizing the sticky threads more appropriately and keeping on top of spambots, i think those two forums take care of themselves- i rarely come across inappropriate posts or threads in either forum (save for a few inane trolls). and as i mentioned before (while unrelated) the tech forum should just be removed, totally extraneous and stuffed with bots.

one thing i do suggest in both promo forums is a cap or moderated guidelines as to how much of your own material you can post per, i dunno, week, or month. too many times are there randoms who post mix after mix after mix all in one day and flood the first page with whatever shit they're creating at the moment. it's unfair to the other people who are trying to share their creative works, and then people in defense start bumping their unseen threads over and over again, stagnating the forums.

i also think that professional/established producers should be unable to post their ads for their new releases in these forums (that's what the new release discussion is for); it's an amateur or TA production forum, not filo & peri's track-whoring forum (for example: http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=540142&forumid=74&s=)

also, ever think about switching it up? instead of DJ promo/DJ booth production promo/production studio, that is. for example, sushipunk is an obvious choice due to his hosting reputation, so therefore wouldn't he be most appropriate as a mod of the track/mix hosting promotional forums only? the guy doesn't dj as far as i know, he hosts.

Posted by Omega_Blue on Oct-08-2009 20:42:

and as mentioned earlier, mods aren't there to give everyone their wisdom about the forum topic, their job is to keep the forums clean- whether or not he/she has a hardware or software DAW setup or knows how to beatjuggle three tracks at once with CDJ1000s is completely irrelevant.

the only argument i could see to the contrary is that mods should know enough about the forum topic to identify extraneous/repeated threads... but then again, since the mod's duty is to peruse and examine the forums for those problems, a little common sense is all that's needed to recognize and remove those unnecessary threads.

tl;dr: technical knowledge on the topic shouldn't be the #1 reason why someone is chosen to mod a specific forum.

The "amateur" tag was deliberately removed from the forum name a couple of years back.

As for anyone who said my name - thanks for the thought but somehow I don't see it happening...

fair enough, "amateur" is a subjective term, but the fact remains that people who definitely should not be posting their shit in the production forum are doing so anyways. i suppose that's where the mod comes in, to decide whether or not threads like that by certain posters are legitimate or appopriate.

Posted by Jarvmeister on Oct-08-2009 20:50:

Where the fuck have half these posters come from.

Rule number one for voting in a new mod should be someone who has actively contributed over recent months.

If we don't get such a person sho's to say they'll give it the dedication it needs.

Hell, nothing ever kicks off here anyway - we just need somone to weed out the crappy spam that plagues us.

I vote Nelly.

I'm not really disagreeing, I liked the old way better too. I guess people just thought "Amateur" was a negative term somehow.
I do think the forum should be kept for people who wish tho share their tunes freely and not as "buy my track at iTunezzz!111" spamming ground.

Anyway, back on topic...
I'm here pretty much every day (especially when I'm at work) so I'd have a lot of time to weed out the spammers.

Yeah, but the mods here have often been unfair, spasmodic and unreliable.

I know from experience that if a mod likes to tell people to shut the fuck up, members will play victim, accuse the moderator of being unfit for their position and generally milk the situation as much as possible. A mod who doesn't fall out with anyone is free of such controversies, should they arise.

I can't really make any suggestions regarding the producers forums as I don't visit them frequently enough but for the DJ forums my votes go to :

Sushi for DJ Promo forum
Nelly for the DJ Booth forum.

This is a good example of the lack of crossover between the DJ and Producer forums that I pointed out earlier, and why I think 3 mods would be a good idea (one to handle the promotion, since there is crossover there, I think). Just different crowds.

P.S. Eric J and JBJ are good choices for production studio too, they're around often and know the difference between harmless banter and outright trolling, and know which questions have already been answered hundreds of times.

I'm taking myself off the list for moderator suggestions.
