My brother got a new PC with Win7 Pro yesterday. I didn't get a chance to play around with it too much yet but it seems very stable, extremely responsive and he hasn't run into any problems.
I like it and I love the new snap feature
im converting an avi file into dvd format and i'm noticing a little sluggishness while multi-tasking on TA, but it's not as bad as it was with vista. so far i'm very pleased with win 7. it's like they kept all the good stuff about vista (such as the general user interface) and tossed out all the dumb shit they incorporated in the old version. plus you can turn off UAC without having to dick around with the registry- a big plus for the layperson.

| Originally posted by Fledz Word of warning, Win7 will run many programs in XP compatibility mode if required. My brother was testing 3DMark Vantage and we wondering why he was getting really shitty FPS, until we noticed the program isn't coded for Win7 and it was automatically running in compatibility mode. Just something to keep an eye on really in case there are programs that run sluggish. Win7 will only get better as more Win7 native programs are released and hopefully in 64-bit too. It's about bloody time we move to 64-bit |
sweet. the company is giving everyone windows 7 ultimate.
bad news. it's the 32-bit version.

i had one issue today- i had to reinstall the WDM audio drivers i use to record streaming audio without using the mic/line-in. the first time i ran the program in win7 i got the BSOD, then it didn't uninstall correctly when i tried doing so after rebooting. had to install the same software over the old version and everything worked fine.

| Originally posted by Demoted I checked that first. But for some reason they (sony) don't have keyboard drivers for my model. I've downloaded some other drivers (motherboard, touchpad, system control or whatever) drivers without any discernible difference in performance and without fixing my problem. RAGE by the way, my model is the Sony Vaio VGN-CS290. |
