You'll be suprised at the crowd guetta, Dubfire, and Sander K will draw in LA

most people come to party because it's new year's eve. and they can't go to 21+ events

You will also see how Dj's like Above & Beyond, Armin Van Buuren, & Markus Schulz bring out the crowds

Posted by vxman on Nov-06-2009 07:15:

crowd does not equate to profit. organizers only care about profit. even if the house crowd is smaller, if organizers make more money, they will push it towards that.

i have not been to vanguard since they switched to house. but, i am guessing they are doing alright. otherwise, they would have come back to trance. avalon is also house i think.

there isn't any good trance dj left. armin and markus are both joke. i used to be armin fan long time ago (until ASOT 200). some of you were arguing whether armin's set was 2 or 3 hours at MM. i was LMAO. armin who? the funny thing is i used to be like that

i think problem is people are not picky. i used to criticize djs and clubs. but, i was attacked. people did not demand better and djs/organizers sold whatever they could. as long as people buy, they won't improve things.

AND I WOULD LIKE TO ADD SOMETHING :

where did we go wrong on here? All this hating on "candy kids" and "kids" in general and "glowsticks" I hear it from R!CH and DaveT all the time. Can someone shut these people up already? stop bitching about the trance scene. I love EVERYTYHING about the trance scene, and frankly if you can't put up with some "imperfections" then GTFO.

LISTEN EVERYBODY. WE ARE TRYING TO BUILD SOMETHING HERE. There is nothing constructive in walking backwards and talking. Which is what many people are doing on this forum.

IN LIFE, you walk FORWARDS AND TALK. AND YOU HELP BUILD SHIT!!!

Now the truth is that TRANCE IS GETTING *NO RESPECT* lately in Massives across the states. I urge you out there who LOVE TRANCE to make some noise, because I honestly don't want to see SUB-PAR ARTISTS like Deadmouse (sorry Deadmouse) headlining events and/or John O'Callahan playing at FUCKEN 9PM (like @ Monster Massive 2009). This is a disgrace and its no wonder the rest of the world says that we "americans are stupid."

SO, PLS, HELP BUILD THE TRANCE SCENE BY BACKING UP ITS ARTISTS, AND PROMOTERS WHO ACTUALLY RESPECT TRANCE, AND WANT IT TO GROW... AND IF YOU HATE TRANCE, GTFO!!!

Very well said.

Is there any good Trance around these days ?

Posted by DaveT on Nov-07-2009 05:09:

IMO, we're in a phase where there's a few trance DJs at the top who have been there for years (Armin, Tiesto, Ferry, PvD)...

There's CL who has his own crowd here.

But beyond that, DJs we known for awhile that would be awesome to hear (like J00F or Eddie Halliwell or a Marco V) just don't have the recognization here.

When you think of a lot of the other trance DJs you'd maybe die to hear at an event like this, they are all still bigtime up-and-comers and have a long way to go. Sometimes they get booked at massives out here, but usually at early slots. Like JOC, O'Bir, Menno, Gareth, Andy Moor, Sander van Doorn, Aly & Fila, and numerous others. All really acts that have risen only in the ranks of DJs in the US the last two, maybe three years. They are certaintly not DJs you can book with the thought that they will have a major draw no their own.

Cosmic Gate and Sander van Doorn PACKED EDC this year!!!!! ...and the sun was still up when Cosmic Gate were on, it was hot, so should not have been that crowded...lol

People really do study and show their appreciation for DJ's and producers who put out quality music. Put them there, and the masses will come!

When House married Techno, they had baby and they named it TRANCE.

Techno and House would have stayed burried in the 90's if it weren't for trance. IMO

Lay down the crack pipe, it's just another genre in electronica. When it comes down too it, it's all electronic music. The way you view things, without techno and house they would be no trance.

Granted,I started out listen to trance\euro dance. Over time I just grow out of it. It's great music if your just getting into electronic music. I still fellow trance and seek out new releases, but that's far in in-between. Right now for me, there's been better house release in the last couple year's.

u took the words out of my mouth. and about john0'Callahan, Goventures messed up big time. Goventures mangaement sucks balls, i think they really f'ed up their events this year. lovefest sucked and MM sucked as well. There was enough room for trance in the mainstage. errrr. like u said, no respect at all. Hopefully insomniac will be the bigger guys to fix TAO and not let stupid goventures do anything but put money in.
Trance4ever!

That is actually very interesting idea, I could help make a case for. Though I would'nt say burried in the 90s, i'd change it to House and Techno would have been far more unknown by the masses and in the cracks of music culture without Trance. Many who are hardcore techno and house listeners today might not have found the music.

In short, House and Techno would not be as big as they are these days if it was not for Trance bringing in more people to EDM music, than what House and Techno could on its own. Trance was an easier step onto the EDM ladder, for EDM listeners who could not latch onto House or Techno, could more easily get into Trance, eventually found their way into House and Techno after being appetized by their first steps through Trance.

Its kind of odd that I am seeing alot of people who have moved to tech or house long time ago now are turning around dissing on Trance. Lots of haters everywhere

Posted by element-y on Nov-07-2009 07:12:

Put it this way, a lineup as massive as this will NEVER sell to a large arena like it will in Europe. People here worship djmag. Artists have to get people to vote for them over a period of years to make it believable and then people listen to them. Its how it works. As much I would love this kind of lineup for a NYE party, forget about it. The US is stuck with Tiesto, Armin, Markus, CL (own fans), Ferry for trance. And most of the music they play is a progressive kind of thing - different from what they started off as in Europe. Deadmau5 style music/crap and Glitch/Tech has been getting massive - look at Hard Events success. House fans are also stuck with complaining in the US as many massives dont give them much option either. Same with other genres. It just isnt what edm is around the world. We are stuck most of the time with one dj at a club with the club not selling out for that dj - if the dj isnt a top 100, shit even a top 50.

Yea. It was either Markus, Armin, Ferry, Tiesto or CL and they did Markus this time. Next year, it will be one of the others haha. And the cycle continues

I cant get into house, i have tried, but its to funky for me. It has a very... differant sound to it.
I think everyone needs to stop pointing fingers and enjoy your own music! Stop being assholes to people who think differently than you!
I wish more parties had just one or two rooms... the whole massive mix is weird....

You make it sound like a bad thing. These are the top DJs in the world... I bet most of the trance-loving world would loooove to get one of these guys for NYE.
