my vote is leave even if it's for 6 months; leaving your safety net helps you grow as a person plus if it's really awful you always have a place to go back to. after college i felt the need to go so i bought a one way ticket to russia...not the brightest decision i've ever made but it was a fantastic experience. unfortunately, my love-hate relationship with that country lasted 4 months but i grew a lot during that time. you don't pay rent and aren't bound to a lease, just leave and if it sucks you have an awesome life to go back to. either way you'll grow from the experience...i keep leaving home and coming back and it's worked well for me.
Seems like you just need to get the fuck out, but I wouldn't say you need to get up and move somewhere else... Just go out and travel for a few months and that should do you just right. I can relate to what you're saying about being in the same town your whole life (and my town is a bit more boring than LA I'd say) and so I just went backpacking in europe for 2 months. It was amazing, amazing shit. Really just what I needed and I'm sure it would be just what you would need too because that way you can just take a short 2 or 3 or 4 month or whatever break and then you can just get back to it after your trip... it's not like you have to move your whole life, just take a short break from it and come back rejuvinated.
