you've had a hardware synth for what ? 1 day ? Have you even got the synth yet ? You have absolutely no fucking idea what you are talking about. How could you possibly form an opinion ? You are one of those knobs that buy into the hype mean while your favproducer is making all his sounds with a basic vst. The virus does nothing special. It is easiliy replicated and if you don't think so, it is because you are poor at sound design.

Any professional will tell you that the virus is a meat and potatoes synth. It sounds good, not great. It is versatile and I suppose a good hardware synth that covers the basics but it is just a synth. The worst part is that you've bought a synth that every single person and their cat owns. You are like those fucking retards in school that die their hair black and start listening to fall out boy because he isn't getting invited to any of the parties.

The Virus is a great synth with a tonne of potential, I'm sure we can all agree on that. At the end of the day though, those who praise it over software are conveniently forgetting that it isn't actually analog, it's practically software inside a hardware box.

You can debate whether this is a good or a bad thing until the cows come home but if you really wanted to talk up hardware synths then you should be getting an analog monster like an Andromeda with real analog characteristics, not a pseudo-hardware synth like the Virus.

Is the Virus a great synth? Yep
Do I want one? Fucking oath I want one, it's great.
Do I expect analog warmth from it? Nope, because I'm not going to get that.

I'm with Cryo, now that this is covered, someone go and start a few "Tiesto, Deadmau5 and Trance is dead" threads

Soon we'll get a thread from Robby saying something like:

"WTF? Why doesn't my Virus automatically make my songs sound better? The presets sound great, why don't they automatically fit in and sound great? Is my Virus broken? How can these guys who only use software make better sounding songs than I can? It's not fair!"

Yes, it's sometimes amusing to hear his internal brain dialogue which he chooses to share with the world, but mostly it's just tiring. Just because he has a thought, or an issue, doesn't mean it needs to be shared with everyone. He could try working through some of these things himself, the way a lot of other people do.

If the virus was "easily replicated" you deushbag access wouldn't have a market in the first place. The reason it has the market it does, is because its virus signature sounds are NOT easily replicated. Economics 101. I will submit 10 virus sounds right now and I guarantee your arrogant ass couldn't come CLOSE to replicating **ONE** of those sounds.

Of course all you know from the synth is the presets you've heard so you have no clue but I suppose for retards that do not understand sound design , the virus is a "GReat " synth because it has an endless supply of presets for wankers to to use.

these are all the synths i've owned and eventually sold because software was just as good.

There is nothing wrong with hardware. I get angry when retards that get their first synth start trashing everything else. The trend among professionals is away from hardware and there is a very good and logical reason why.

I've been producing like a poor mfkr for the last 6 years and the second I get some money together I get something that **I** want to get and I have to come here and listen to people telling me what I really need and don't really need.

The point is that you have never owned a synth, still haven't even owned a synth yet since it is still most likely being shipped from ebay yet you somehow have the audacity to say it makes everything else sound like garbage from a bunch normal sounding presets that can be achieved with other tools.

No no no, I never said a word about those "links", that was just a random link I posted and before we even got on this topic.

What I said is I would post 10 random virus samples, (or less if you prefer but it would make it harder for you in reality) and you would pick only *1* of those sounds to replicate.

What I said is you couldn't replicate 1 of THOSE 10 samples I submitted. Thats how confident I am that you can't do it. They would be 10 sounds that have a very obvious virus character, many virus sounds have that character, and no software can recreate it. If you don't believe me, again, 1 out of 10.
