come on. this whole genre labelling bullshit is a good icebreaker. and it's good to know progressive house and its carbon copy progressive trance were being debated back in the day.

I am not surprised that users with barely more than a year or two of live experience listening to trance music posting in threads back in 2003 and 2002 questioned the existence of a genre of music that peaked in 1997.

The aggressive turnover rate in this scene, in combination with its utter lack of a sense of history, is actually one of the prime motivations that compelled me to make the guides.

progressive trance:

Now seriously, go away.

Matt, you don't know what "progressive" means, you don't know what "progressive trance" is and you aren't actually making any kind of argument, you're just quoting morons from a decade ago.

I doubt you're serious on your best day considering how you've returned to this site for literally a few seconds with no dirt on anybody. plus, your guide is famous for being brilliantly humorous and satire, seriousness being irrelevant. while you had haters throwing your guide into the toilet and doing #2, I always thought it was excellent since I was a young buck.

I thought you were going to hand the final knockout punch by posting for instance, a marc mitchell joint, but the evolution remix of life in minds? that's the best example you can come up with? sure they're classified as "progressive trance" but that track specifically does not sound progressive at all. is it just me or does that sound like hard trance?

whatever though, I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt by saying you're probably a decade older than me, and that you were probably clubbing when I was sucking on my mother's nipples. I made this thread simply because they were debating about progressive trance's existence in 2002 and 03, not because I want to make shit up and troll.

but straight up, your 2nd example was shit.

anyway, you win. progressive trance exists. there's no use in trying to defend my belief that it's fake since I'm clearly outnumbered and outgunned. if you wanna get the last word in this thread before it gets locked or something, I don't give a fuck.

Next time you open a thread like this you might want to try to... I dunno, formulate an argument? Leave some room for discussion?

Posted by Ted Promo on Oct-18-2011 12:25:

Haven you even heard Anjunadeep?

Anjunadeep.

Posted by corjay9 on Oct-18-2011 12:57:

This is a progressive trance 'joint' cuz it's certainly not house.

makes perfect sense.

But the fact that 1 person (Clovis), who didn't even like me on this site, understood what this thread was about, it showed I wasn't talking out of my ass. the rest thought I was trolling because they're outcasts who were never around when this debate occured.

Well, you fucking well don't make any sense, what-so-ever.

Do you happen to be familiar with the term facetious?

Posted by Redd on Oct-18-2011 17:22:

People think you're trolling because they don't think anyone can be that stupid, not because they're "outcasts".

Ignorelist welcomes you.

Sure, you can get a spot too.

SYSTEM-Redd, that was a good one, did your 12 year old son come up with that? Rhetorical question, you're ignored.

Posted by Trance-M on Oct-18-2011 18:26:

No, my 2 year old did and also told me you would reply like a 12 year old.

do you really think this track is progressive? I googled the definition and this is what I got:

Happening or developing gradually or in stages; proceeding step by step.

sounds like pretty strong word based on that.

do I admit progressive trance exists? yes. But will I agree with 90% of what people label as progressive trance? fuck no.

Posted by Trance-M on Oct-18-2011 18:55:

According to discogs: Genre: Elektronic Style: Techno

http://www.discogs.com/Made-By-Monk...release/2396289

Personally I never used progressive trance to describe music I listened. Why does it need to have a different name when it's slower than normal, if there is a normal?
After Childeren was called Dream-house I stopped thinking about how to call them.

This 1993 classic is listed as Progressive Trance, Trance and Tech House, but I'm happy with just calling it Trance:

Really? Like who? Because I have NEVER heard anyone say that it doesn't exist. Never. At least not from anyone that mattered.

look brethren, what I've come to realize is that when the TA's back in 2002/2003 said progressive trance didn't exist, it wasn't because they thought it didn't exist whatsoever. it was because of shitty tracks being mislabeled as progressive trance. when so many shitty tracks were being called progressive trance like McProg, you have to question the existence of trance tracks that are innovative and progressive.

it should just be called mcdonalds trance - drop the prog from the name.

do all of you really want to ignore me? come on, you gotta appreciate my guts and balls by expressing these extreme opinions. none of you have the fortitude to even glare at the monitor like I do.

well if it wasn't talked about anywhere else, it was debated in Music Discussion. people were even calling tracks just Progressive to avoid confusion if it's the house or trance side.

I wasn't a trance.nu guy, but I just searched up trance.nu and they were even having progressive house vs. trance battles too.

Confused

Trance is Trance. Progressive nowdays is not sounding like the original trance at all. Trance is more melodic, progressive is more club type of stuff.
