I found Mass Effect 2 to be rather disappointing.
- The combat system was extremely repetitive and they got rid of the Mako and replaced it with that stupid planet scanning feature. I know people complained about the Mako potions of the game, but come on! I would've preferred driving around planets looking for different elements versus the scanning.
- The inventory system was waaaay too simplified. The first one was too much, and this one was too little. I would've liked a tad more weapon and armour types. And I've always been a fan of augmenting your equipment so I was pissed to see that feature taken out as well.
- The world, and relationships between characters was as static as the it was in the first one. None of your actions really had any effect on the world around you, and outside of the loyalty missions the characters were about as 1 dimensional as they can be.
- The plot was much to simple. I was expecting something epic on the scale of ME1 but just when things started to pick up the game ended. The final mission was the best thing about the game. Would've been nice if more missions throughout the game played out like that.
- Cinematics extremely well done. Up there with the likes of Metal Gear Solid. I wish Bethesda and Bioware would team up to make an RPG.
Maybe I've been spoiled over the years but I was really expecting more out of this game. It felt like another shooter with some RPG elements.
And finally, this thread should be renamed to "The Gaming Thread"
Now this wouldve made the game soooooo much better.
