It's obviously a big topics for discussion at the moment hence the many pages so me closing it abruptly without specificing an alternate place to post their comments will result in people opening further threads.

This also encourages people to visit threads in the event subforum.

Ahh ok cool - and yeah definitely a hot topic no doubt about that!

but howcome these promoters (dance.here.too and area) get to create a thread (actually theres like 3 or 4)..not to mentioned theyre even stickied?? what ever happened to posting all events/parties in the event thread?

I think those are all sponsored / advertising spots.

All we really need is one sticky thread each for the mixes/local articles.

Brad Miller interview, or bust!

Posted by Neonbeats on Feb-19-2010 03:37:

All I gotta say is the events section subforum is awesome. Also, I'd avoid stickies where possible. I think a dj mix subforum like the events subforum would be better.....just more organized.

I had no idea the Brad Miller interview would turn into a forum phenomenon

Thats actually a good idea! Not sure how easy it would be to get this pulled off though.

Im all for that or the one thread per DJ idea. I think a single topic of all the mixes would get a little bit buggy though.

oh and not to get off topic but that Brad Miller interview was sick. Very well done!

euphoria, i don't know you but i've read all your posts and replies to these guys and all you have to say is 'let's wait for swamper'. you need to take this message which has clearly been communicated to you and make swamper understand what your people want and need. it is not a matter of 'waiting for swamper' it's a matter of you getting what your people want done and fast.

btw, i realize my post may come across very harsh but i don't mean it like that. entirely.

If you want more event related discussion then that is one way to do it.

^^ I'm surprised not one person has commented on what I said up there? That's the only logical change I can see to make to NYTA in the short term to help foster event-related discussion. It works great in the West Coast forum and that area has a lot of activity.

In terms of DJ mixes, it makes no sense to create a whole other sub-forum just for that purpose. A sticky with a link to your mix and/or relevant thread in the DJ promo section (like TOTA) will do.

Articles/Interviews for the most part should continue to be posted in Music Discussion. There are reasons for this, some which are logistical and some which are necessary to deter against promoter/promotion-related spam/thread bumping.

The only bad part about moving it to the Music Discussion thread is that forum seems to be one big troll fest. So instead of good discussion you'd get in here it will either get troll responses in there or ignored.

It's HIS site, and HIS choice. I can only reply and specify the reasoning/logic behind the rules. I cannot make any changes without his approval. Clearly you don't understand how things work around here

oh please, its not rocket science. there was no need of such a strict change in the first place.

Posted by osterzone on Feb-19-2010 15:59:

If this forum all agrees that they want something a certain way...why can't it be that way?

What you don't seem to understand is....these rules were always in place, not just here but in other regional forums as well. However there was no mod to enforce them. Everyone was complaining that NYTA needed a mod...and now you have one.

Everyone wants something, but you can't accomidate everyone all the time. Swamper owns the board and he will run it however he see's fit. If he says it's not going to change then it's not. If something does change, then people will just find something else to complain about.

NYTA is not the only forum on this board. Any changes here will obviously affect the entire site to some degree.

There is nothing further to discuss here besides whether or not you all want the events to appear the same way as the West Coast events. I will open a thread with a poll so you can vote. Please do not post anything that is unrelated to that specific topic.
