Posted by Maher Daniel on Apr-27-2010 07:00:

the reality of things is, allot of underaged kids were coming to piknic with booze and getting totally ruined, the site was attracting allot of police so by not allowing any booze from outside controls the underaged drinking.

which is a particular reason why i think this is happening it sucks but maybe it will control the amount of young bloods that come to piknic and act a fool

Posted by CODE on Apr-27-2010 10:14:

Maher is completely right.

Anytime an event gets as big as Piknic the organizers have to make
sure it dosent get out of hand.

Nobody wants underage kids getting wasted and fucking it up for everyone else.

In Toornto we cant even drink anywere besides a licsence area

whats the point uhg

Posted by 84th Ave. on Apr-27-2010 12:55:

first i wake up with snow everywhere now this

really blows, although like many ppl said i saw this happening

Posted by Passskal on Apr-27-2010 13:05:

Does anyone know if we we're allowed to bring our own alcohol during Grand Prix...which is also located at Parc Jean-Drapeau?

Posted by malek on Apr-27-2010 14:18:

If this is about underage drinkers, why not block them out?? and/or give a bracelet to 18+ attendees that will be easy to spot.

The problem's root is of people's abuse of drugs, as I have mentionned before in other threads about piknic... but whatever, hopefully this will keep out those fucking hippies that can't afford a beer.

Looking forward to that press release.

Posted by robbiej on Apr-27-2010 14:22:

malek is genius. listen to him. bracelets... fml

Posted by 84th Ave. on Apr-27-2010 14:28:

what Malek said can work, and hope they resort to that method

Im not sure how piknic works, i know they are somewhat funded by the gov, but can this be just a cash grab?

like $10 for ticks, thats all they charge, where do they make their money? off of hot-dogs?

we do live in a capitalist world here, im sure someone wants to make more money somehow

could be wrong, someone can shed more light, im curious to know

I think I spend more on the hot dogs than on admission LOL

The highest Piknic could charge has to be like $15-$20 per person (if they ever wanted to keep their clientele). Not sure how many of you would be willing to pay $30+. Seeing your already complaining about having to pay for alcohol. I guess they could charge $30 and make it 18+ only and allow you to bring your own alcohol.

The bracelet would work. Only thing is, they would have to tell the people selling the alcohol, if someone walked up with a bracelet in their hand and not on their wrist, they would tell the kids to amscray or get security involved (to toss the little ******s out)

you should see michel quintal's wall. they are fully expecting this news to be very harsh. they are not doing it because they want to. piknic simply got out of hand at some point and now they have critical decisions to make.

While some alternatives could be studied, I have the firm impression this change is "suggested" by the authorities

Posted by Marcus007 on Apr-27-2010 15:34:

like bran said

if you remove the right to bring in alcohol more people will resort to taking drugs

drugs = cheaper than 8$ vodka/guru's

if they had a problem with underage drinking, why don't they card anyone at the door who has booze on them?

personally, i think this has nothing to do with us and everything to do with the $$$...

I'm a piknic soldier, I'll be there regardless, I just think it's too bad.... what's next 15$ entrance... then 20$?????

Very true.

Posted by corjay9 on Apr-27-2010 16:36:

Why not just make Piknic 18+ like they did with Igloofest? Card everyone, so then we can still bring our beer. Whats a Piknic without beer?

Posted by Ravemontreal on Apr-27-2010 16:44:

Because the point of Piknic is to spend a day outside, listening to music, and have the chance to spend that day with family, friends and kids.

And that is more important then to get wasted on a cheap budget.

It's not a big deal. Either you go easier on your drinking, or you bring a few extra bucks.

Posted by Alexx G on Apr-27-2010 16:48:

This blows!
And for real, this is asking for even more trouble: less booze = more drugs. And that's bad considering ppl are already pretty fucked up.

This argument doesn't make any sense at all. The importance of spending time with family and friends at Piknik has no relation to the significance of the substantial increase in cost of a Sunday at Piknik.

Oh whatever. Get off your high horse. Do you really think that this measure is going to impede people from getting as fucked up as they want to get? Also, it's going to cost quite a bit more than "a few extra bucks".

It is a big deal for Piknik. The allure of Piknik was something you could do on a Sunday with family and friends, without having to spend much money. It is more of a casual outing. Now this will either cause people to go less often or do more drugs. This will definitely change the laid-back atmosphere of Piknik.

Posted by malek on Apr-27-2010 16:58:

But I want to get drunk on Havana Club and or Grand Marnier, but they won't have it...

Families at piknic is stupid, seriously, anyone bringing his kids their needs a beating.

Posted by Alexx G on Apr-27-2010 17:02:

Haha. The countless numbers of mothers I saw fkd out of their mind while their kids are left alone in the inflatable castle. Pretty sad. Buncha hippies. I am also against having kids at piknic. Not a "family" outing at all. Kids don't belong where there is alcohol loud music and drugs. 18+ all the way!

1- My argument makes a lot of sense because it was a reply to the prior post saying that Piknic should be 18+ in order to let people bring their own alcool.

So my answer is: Piknic is an outside, day time, family event. So it shouldn't be otherwise just so you can save a few bucks on a beer. And that if you drink moderatly and not like a fucking pig, then you shouldn't see such a huge difference on your wallet to have a few beers.

It should be an overall sober day and they should also be much more strict on drug surveillance.

I never said anything about if that measure would have any affect on how people get fucked up. Obviously that measure does not please Piknic and they had to do it for some reason. So just deal with it. If people would know how to behave by themselves we wouldn't need rules.
