Hmm...interesting. There are a lot of groups, however, that do tend a corrupt household. Alcoholics, drugies, damaged parents, unethical parents..ect.

But what interests me the most is that my statement can be just as irrelevant as it is correct.-

If you grow up in a household with flaming alcoholics, you can grow up to be just like them, or be satisfied with a different life style and graduate a prestigious school, all on your own.

I agree, we are all products of our environment but it doesn't mean you can't rise above the stigma of your environment.
The lazy and comfortable tend to never take the steps to rise above and then just rot into what their enviroment is.

Sure, that's true. However, even these individuals bond in a way or another: criminals, for all their bad deeds, still join mobs and gather around gangs; alcoholics may display a sign or other of affection; and so on.

Once again, that's true. However, would you really be prepared to say alcoholics don't know the meaning of friendship?

No matter what you are or your drug of chose is, people will always be able to grasp the nature of friendship with another soul.
I saw a documentary on prison where rapist and murders (in this certain prison) became very attached to cats.

The prison had a cat theory rehabilitation but you had to prove yourself that you wouldn't hurt the cats, and in this prison with all the interviews that were done, these inmates created very special bonds with these cats. So friendship can go beyond human to human friendship.

Also the soothing of the cats made the inmates nicer to other inmates and guards.
