| What a total lame excuse. Who told you to be the one who knows what actually is better music? To me it sound like you really earned the title to be an Elite. Someone mentioned high horses? |
Lately I'm trying to post by the rule of, "Ignore the bad, promote the good." So if someone posts about a track I think is awful, I usually ignore it rather than flaming it, posting a long critique of it, or getting into a big argument about it.
I used to find a sort of perverse fun in being negative about the music I disliked and really laying into it, but now it seems tiresome. I don't want to use up my energy dealing with crap, even if it's to try and "convert" people away from it by telling them precisely why I think it's crap. There's too much good music out there that deserves my time and attention for that.

Personally I just try to stay away from threads that do not interest me, but some people have trouble doing that. |

I was not aware this place was a training school for good etiquette. |

Look, I have no problem admitting that there is always some degree of subjectivity about music, and that there are many many people here who are more knowledgeable about me. This isn't about being superior to others. However there's gotta be a limit somewhere on where to take someone seriously or not, surely? If some noob pops up raving about Ke$ha and Justin Bieber as the gods of music, would you waste time arguing with that person for real in any musical debate? I'm sorry if you feel left out for not everyone valuing your opinions, but that's just the way it is. |
Nice to see some REAL replies in this thread
(keep it up!)
this forum is starting to feel like apartheid.

Mostly I just get annoyed when people post in the wrong section, these days.
to be frank,
i'm sure we all agree that ta has evolved in its community, but what doesn't evolve nowadays? i've been here for a long time and the scene has certainly changed from way back.. but that's obvious with almost everything but i definitely do miss those times.
i believe we all have the freedom to express our beliefs regardless of what people say.. this is to promote discussion of course but usually ends up in some unnecessary flame fight.
i think we all should give our opinions but at least share some respect with people who have been here for a long time.. as well as those who have just joined.
i mean, we do want to bring more people into the edm community right? we all share the same passion for electronic dance music and there is no other place to be other than tranceaddict, plain & simple.
anywho.. just sharing my thoughts with you all!
I've been sitting on this one for a while trying to decide how to say what I want to say. My opinion can basically be summed up in the following quote:

Youre perfectly justified in turning up your nose at us hipster. Hipster? Yeah I know... I am talking about a broad scene encompassing thousands labels that Ive never even heard or heard of. Yes, I am talking about something I dont understand. Yes, Im painting the swedish house scene and the most underground minimal with the same broad stroke and calling it all shit music. And now that the cats out of the bag quit lording your views over us. Stop tainting our discussions and driving newcomers away. If were on here talking about our favorite producers new TRANCE single we dont care about how much more important and credible the 20-Minute-plink-shit-nobody-is-ever-going-to-fucking-buy is. If were talking about our favorite artists new album ( Chicane for example) zip your stupid mouth shut because nobody cares what you think about somebody else's career. You have nothing to add to our discussion here about trance and we don't give two shits about the crappy gonowhere tech house rockthrons you tricked yourself into liking. Were talking about something entirely different. |

without reading most of the posts here!
the best thing is just to let other oppinions be as they are! if i like a track and someone bitches and complains about it, so what? its the internet, everybody is nearly anonymous and therefore the language and attitude sometimes aren't the best here!
but really, if that is a problem for you, the online life isn't a good place for you!
don't be so thin-skinned, relax and enjoy your music!

rolling on doves.
People are just stupid.
Plus, they always think they're right, and that their taste is better than everyone else's.
I vote for a new mankind.
i like the music discussion forum the way it is - if it wasnt it'd just be like trance.nu - which would mean i would stop coming here Yeah its like sooo friendly and everyone loves each other - but jesus they talk about crap music.
on the whole most of the people on here blast other peoples tastes have been here for a while - and have been into dance music for ages - they generally arent totally obscene about the abuse - just funny and educational a lot of the time.
so all in all - i agree with system-j - some peeps gotta harden up - or go to some other unicorn friendly site where you can all frolick together, crossbread rhino and horse dna and create real life unicorns :hugs:
I remember everyone on TA being very nice back in circa 2001-2002, I think the common like for the same music brought everyone together - before I even knew what I was listening to was Trance - I seriously thought I was the only person in the World who listened to the stuff - and then much to my disbelief there were hundreds of thousands of others - you bastards!!!!
