I don't care if he's a wanker though, really. I don't know the guy. As long as he spins music that I might want to hear, then let him behave like a muppet

+1

Dude, Seth's song with Seth's song remixed with Seth talking during WMC 2010 is gold. Still working on it. This is going to be amazing.

In the meantime...here's a teaser...

yeah, kids in my high school used to quote that line all the fucking time once they discovered "fear and loathing" three years after all the potheads did. so annoying.

He was pretty fucked when he was down here in Sydney at an afterparty of a big music festival. Seth Troxler was totally smashed and train wrecked every tune even a little kid could've mixed better than him that night, Ellen Allien (threw up on the decks while playing so she stopped), and Paul Ritch (was too wasted to even play) so basically the locals played for the whole 5hr party instead of the internationals.

It would be hypocritical to judge another person's drug use, but I do take issue with it when people cannot maintain composure - especially in public. Everybody crosses the line here and there, but it's idiotic and juvenile to make it one's business all the time. Furthermore, I don't care how entrenched substance use is within the rave/dance culture - a dj has a fucking job to do/is getting paid, so they should conduct themselves professionally. Get high/wasted and act like a goddamn moron AFTER your gig. Fuck.

Are you referring to Seth in the video? I thought, regardless of any substances he was on, he was consciously putting on a show. I would have acted the exact same IMO. And if I ever DJ again I will try to make every public situation as awkward, experimental, or embarassing as fuck, especially if I am on camera, as I have done all my life. But of course I wouldn't get fucked up while DJing and consequently fuck up the set. That's obviously very stupid.

I think it's tacky and annoying. We don't have to agree.

how is seth troxler's productions any different than the rest of the typical contemporary techno that everyone and their mother puts out nowadays? or are you talking about jake benson?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Sep-23-2010 14:08:

If it were just a "regular guy" in that video, EVERYone would be flaming his retarded, annoying ass. But nooOOOOoo, it's SETH TROXLER and we all must suck his cock! Therefore, it's clever, crazy, and hilarious! He's not acting like a douche in the least! He has vision, and purpose!

you mean the bland, k-hole pseudo deep house, 'ethnic' salsero blippity blop, and miserably looped disco sample tracks?

yeah, those are also annoying and tacky.

Posted by Silky Johnson on Sep-23-2010 14:39:

I just call them lazy edits.

Posted by UWM on Sep-23-2010 14:52:

hey, can't disagree with you there, as all genres du jour will inevitably become diluted by their own "formulas" i suppose you could call it. they become their own cliche in a way.

but don't say that around jamie jones. he went on a long diatribe about his edits on RA a couple weeks back when an RA journalist gave a soul clap "edit" release a mediocre rating-

basically his claim was that they're edits and they explicitly say so on the labeling (and therefore are somehow exempt from negative criticism), and if any of the original artists wanted compensation, they can contact them (hot natured/wolf+lamb/etc) and they will give them all the profits. i found it interesting that he gave the original artists the OPTION to get paid for their own work, instead of doing the right thing and getting the rights/acknowledgement/whatever before releasing it; not to mention that the few digital releases i've bought of said edits include vinyl artwork within the id3 of the file that mentions nothing about the original artist whatsoever.
