I had a teddy bear, imaginatively called Ted, but I never had much attachment to him.

On the other hand, I still sleep on the same pillow as when I first moved out of a cot. It's over 20 years old now, the feathers inside have probably turned to dust and it's lost all structural integrity. It's become the softest thing that has ever existed. It's getting to the stage now where I know I'll have to throw it out soon because it's falling apart from within, but it's like taking your old blind dog out behind the shed and shooting it - you know it's the kindest thing to do but it ain't easy to get it over with.

My mom bought a pillow for herself when I was about 4 years old but I decided to claim it as my own. It was one of those cheapy ones made out of that yellow foam stuff, something like this:

Anyway, I kept it up until maybe 2 years ago (so about 18 years) and it was so destroyed. The foam had been ripped up into dime size pieces and when you touched it with your hand (when some fell out through the tearing seams), it would literally disintegrate in your fingers. I had to put it into a new case for the last 5 or so years of its life, but damn that thing was so friggen comfortable. I finally decided that thing was getting pretty nasty and tossed it out despite not wanting to. Haha!

Weird how we get so attached to things like that.

If Post Apacolyptic Transmissions tells me anything it's that theres a bit o' artist in ye - do something with the pillow! Perhaps stuff your old blind dog with it

Or toss it into the crowd during a breakdown...

Throw it out man, it's actually kind of unhealthy to keep sleeping with your face on that every night

Make a ritual of it, or something.

Me too. My grandmother was in a wheelchair but made blankets & I had one from her as a gift.

I also have my first teddy still, away in my wardrobe, he was bought for me when I was 2 days old & I named him after myself. Stuff like stuffed toys can if in good condition sell for a lot of money too.

My favorite was a puppet stuffed beaver, which I had as far back as I can remember. May still be at my parents' house.

I also had a green heart my mother sewed for me and a brown bear with words describing the colour of his clothes in Italian. The green heart crumbled after a decade and I don't know what happened to the brown bear. I guess my mother sold it against my will.
