Yea, last I heard the nuclear situation was not that dire, they had secured the reactor and there was no threat of radiation leakage.

Last I heard (Guardian at 5:20GMT) was that the pressure inside the reactor was still rising.
EDIT: Reuters @ 5:47GMT http://uk.reuters.com/article/2011/...E72A2NR20110311
There is some crazy amateur video coming out of Japan too. This kid captured the quake from inside his home.

The one thing I will never forget was the earthquake we had here in Hull about 4 years ago. I think it was only 3.6 but the noise was unreal, words can't describe hearing the land resonate like that.
Crazy

Our one was so tiny that I don't think there was a noticeable aftershock.
Another vid:
fantastic pics up there...
in the first one the cars and planes look like toys
Our professor in Japanese class today said her family was in Tokyo and luckily ok.
Some of the other professors are still trying to get in touch with their families, but unfortunately communication is really tough at the moment.
Breaking: An estimated 6.6-magnitude earthquake has struck Nagano and Niigata prefectures in Japan, the Kyodo News Service reported. The U.S. Geological Survey says this latest event is a 6.2-magnitude temblor.

I feel so sad for this.
Feel utterly, utterly heartbroken to see all those places I lived and worked in completely destroyed in seconds. Cannot begin to even feel the grief that I know will come. Just feel completely numb.
this whole thing is epic. the fucking whirpool in the pacific ocean

| Originally posted by DaveT My experience with postings links to a page of images is that some other poster just ends up posting the good images on their own in the thread. In this case, pretty much every image is great. And instead of writing all the HTML for each image, i just did a simple iframe. Because I'm lazy. lol. It's just a page of pics and comments. If it was a page with an article or something else with images, I would have done it the proper way. But other than loading the images, the rest of the page requires little bandwidth. So it shouldn't really affect the loading times for peopel on here if you aren't on dial-up. |
still no word from Lira ?
