I really want to get my hands on a bottle of this. It's supposed to be one of the highest rated scotches in the world.

agh! I can't have alcohol shipped to me in Indiana. I'm just going to order some illegal absynthe instead. Sad that I can get that and not scotch.

You know Gmilf, i've always wanted to try smoking my stogies with some bourbon instead of single malt scotch.

Got any recommendation for a good, but cheap resort to my splurging on single malts?

Posted by gmilf on May-26-2011 02:39:

I like the ones that use a lot of corn mash, they are sweeter and mix better with a rich cigar. Makers Mark or Bulliet are my all around favorites when smoking. Also, try having some dark chocolate around to take a bite of when the smoke seems to begin overpowering the bourbons taste.

Will try the chocolate thingy.

What do you think of Wild Turkey and have you ever tasted Jack Daniels No. 1? Friend did. Said it tasted nothing like the No 7 crap.

Posted by gmilf on May-26-2011 02:56:

Wild Turkey has become a lot more popular lately but its really harsh and I do not like it. I think Jack Daniels 7 is pretty harsh as well. The single barrel is much smoother, but I personally like gentleman's Jack more that either. It's just a double filtered #7. And I think its a couple bucks cheaper.

than single

The only real scotch I've had is Johnny Walker Black, and I liked it quite a bit.

Though I have to admit I'm a bourbon guy at heart. I'm a sucker for sugar. Maker's or Jack are always a good choice. I enjoy Wild Turkey American Honey, too. Unlike nice scotch, you can throw any of those on ice or with a mixer and not be an asshole.

There was a massive shit storm in the UK recently that basically claims that all Scotch is basically whiskey.

All Scotch is whiskey. Well..."whisky."
That's why it says "Scotch Whisky" on the bottle.

I know it's blown the whole scam wide open.

An excellent scotch - especially for the price. Hoping to try the 16 year sometime but they never have it in stock

Johnnie Walker Red is the best scotch in the world!

Posted by Quazar on Aug-07-2011 01:13:

I like how in liquor stores, when they have the little info things explaining the different liquors, the one next to Johnny Walker Red says "perfect for mixing"... and it's needed, cause whenever a n00b like me hears "Johnny Walker", we assume we'll get yelled at by the snobs for mixing it with anything.

The best thing to listen to while you're drinking whiskey is Tom Waits album Small Change.

or the saddest thing to listen to.
