The truth is even the most avid baseball fan has no clue what's going on. If a fan was able to read team signals then the other team would be able to read signals thus making signals totally irrevelant to the game. All we have is stats and unless you're a boring sorta stats guy you'll find baseball boring has hell. How often do you witness a very athletic play happen in a 3 hour game? Maybe 3 times.
I admit there's a lot going on in game but the fans have no clue what it actually is.
The lack of athleticism is the reason player can play 162 games or why they can play a double header or why pro athletes can take up baseball as a second sport with limited worries of getting injured.
People always say football is boring cause there are not enough goals but thats bullshit. Sure there are less goals but that makes them that much more awesome.
Watching the basketball playoffs this season, more times than not the entire game came down to the last 10 seconds or many times even the last fuckin shot! To me that's boring cause you never really have to start watching the game till the last 3-4 minutes. Football keeps you watching from beginning to end because the game can be won or lost at any point during the match with a red card, penalty or just 1 or 2 goals in a 5 minute span.
Hitting a 95+ mph fastball, all the while knowing that the pitcher can throw an 85mph changeup, or an 86mph curve that breaks over a foot, is pretty much the hardest thing to do in any sport.

You're talking 2 positions in a game that has how many? Even I can hit a 90 mph baseball thrown down the middle. I'm as amateur as it gets you give me 9 years of practicing on curve balls change ups screwbals and ill be hitting those too
I guess, but if you are overweight but can throw a ball 98mph, or are an overweight catcher or first baseman who can hit 400ft home runs, I would argue that you're not unathletic. The best hitter of all time was a fat alcoholic who smoked. He was also a great pitcher as well.
You don't see practices. There's endless amounts of running, weight training, batting practice, long tossing, etc. that makes players able to perform at a high level. Overweight players never make it to the majors unless they're exceptionally gifted in one facet of the game (pitching, hitting, catching, etc.).
Just because there are some overweight players (and they're probably 98% pitchers) doesn't mean that anyone who is unathletic can still excel at baseball. In fact, some of the most athletic players who I've seen haven't been very good at baseball.
Case in point:
This guy has barely stayed in the league. He's not skilled, he's just athletic. That's the point I'm trying to make. It takes more than being a mindless animal (with the exception of quarterbacks) like in the NFL to succeed at baseball.
Those mindless animals can run close to 10 seconds in a 100m and weigh over 300 pounds. They can hurdle you and have the footing of a mountain goat and have the hand eye coordination of a surgeon.
Ps just because you have muscle does not make you athletic. Stop posting homosexual pictures I'm at the library in public here.
yeah, being conventionally 'ripped' or muscly means very little in terms of athletic ability (taken in before any 'skill' is in the picture). Andy Schleck is 100x the athlete that guy or anyone like that will ever be, and may see him as 'skinny' if you didn't know about cycling fitness/slow twitch muscles

But slow twitch muscles are boring
(but still impressive). Regardless, I'm more impressed by someone who can throw a ball 95+ mph 60.5 feet into a window only a couple inches wide, than someone who can ride a bike for a long time.

Untrue. I'm sure Vivid hasn't been in a library since grade school.

True that. Despite the dubious nature of the physical contacts in both sports, at least in Aussie footie you earn points if you score a behind!
All my knowledge about Australian rules football comes from the Wikipedia article I just skimmed over. I don't even know if there's any similar gayness involved... is there?

Thats not dubious, thats awesome!
Oh, wait, I just noticed I made a cross-linguistic brainfart. By dubious I meant "potentially gay", not "apparently non-existent".
My bad.

I dont care how much skill something takes necessarily (ie NFL is awesome but it doesnt take too much skill to be a fat fuck on the defensive line) but baseball is just fucking boring to watch. Absolute snoozeville.
Athleticism!!!!
