Here is the most common response we'll get over here in the states: "Hey I want to listen to some techno!" Everyone over here refers to any form of electronica music as "techno". If you say anything like progressive, trance, house, etc. they won't have a clue as to what you're talking about. Everyone's idea of "techno" is Darude, DJ Encore, Ian Van Dahl, and think that ALL of the stuff sounds like that...

Over here, as everyone has said, rap and R&B are the biggest things among kids/teens and of course the typical pop stuff like Celion Dion and Shania Twain. I actually, myself don't mind Barenaked Ladies and Sum41 and stuff like that, hehe.

Just watch the line up of the events that are coming up... Illusion 15years -> Tiesto, Tall Paul, Sister Bliss,.... Brussels is Burning -> Mauro Picotto, Judge Jules, Marco V, Push,...

So something seems to change in our little country! We just need more trance clubs (cause we got enough hardstyle clubs cherry moon, h2o,... they all kick asses but like 1% of trance)

But for me, Holland is n1 and UK n2

Well said, totally agree

don't you ever listen to rumours, mate. especially for good news

Sure, we might not get world-renowned events like Loveparade or Mayday or Innercity...Or get 3-5 world-class DJ's on a weekly basis like Gatecrasher does, but hey, we're not that bad off.

i say it's not that bad but it still has a long way to go, comparing to Europe. take London for example: "Every issue of Time Out has weekly club listings that could pass for the who's who of DJs; every corner pub has a pair of turntables tucked behind the bar; Pete Tong's Friday-night Essential Selection dance countdown on Radio One is a must-listen; and even the Virgin Megastore boasts a huge selection of vinyl for DJs." (quoted from, uhh, Rolling Stone ) and i can easily name three mega clubs: Ministry of Sound, Cream, Gatecrasher. that is where you can eat, sleep and breathe trance, me thinks.

Monkey Dancer 2 Hmm..there are some answers....

I live in Germany and I do Parties for more than 10 Years now. Trance is my life, that's why I am so much much interested in this Sound, here comes my defintion:

Best Countries for Trance are: NL, BE, UK and Germany!I still love German Trance because all Classics (or most of them) are coming from Labels like Superstition, Eye Q + Harthouse (Sven Vth / Respect to him !!). Nowadays the Scene has become too commercial and you really have to know which Club or Party you have to go, but I think this is the same for other Countries in Europe! I love Belgium very much because of their Super DJ's and Labels (Yves Deruyter, MIKE, Airwave = Bonzai !!!) I think they are unbeaten with their Sound Style of Trance !!! NL is cool with Armin v.B. , Marco V and Tiesto, they are great Talents and they also rule the Scene in Europe! The UK is a fantastic Country for Progressiv Trance and more Undergroundy Productions, they have awesome DJ's and Producer like: Oakey (he was brilliant 1999-2001), Dave Seaman (more Progressive Style, but perfect Mix Technique), John 00 Flemming (in my eyes the most brilliant and powerful Trance DJ in the UK).

Long Live Trance (this is what DJ Taucher used to say) )))
Cheers DJelloun

i hear ya!
most the ppl i know who's even remotely into trance, can't name more than 5 producers (excluding darude and the likes)
and when they goto clubs/raves n shit, they're those candy ravers with the pasifiers (spelling?) and glowsticks

Posted by zoomp on Aug-26-2002 22:59:

ISRAEL
but i cant complain, brazil have a really nice psy-goa trance scene., and cool partys

Posted by Peppe909 on Aug-27-2002 00:22:

i think Holland is the best into trance music.i live in slovakia and the people here are fakin. they dont listen to trance, they all listen except me and my friend to punk shit and so on. here wasnt any trance party. last in august was Scooter here, but thats not TRANCE!

so the eastern countries i think have a little big problem with trance music, because it isnt played in radios or TV. MTV Europe fakkaz too. i only watch MTV 2 Pop and Viva and listen Sunshine-Live radio through Satelite.

Posted by Jobe5454 on Aug-27-2002 00:30:

I vote

I vote for israel, because in my opinion that country has the most up and coming producers right now.. Some great great stuff..

Cosma, Psysex, Lish, yahel, Astrix, Xerox, psycraft, violet vision, oh and of course lets not forget Infected Mushroom.. and more..
