Granted i dont know all the republicans, just the more vocal, media happy ones, bu among those that are in the spotlight i can only name two that align with your own beliefs, the terrible two of small government conservatism who are perceived as to fringe to ever be elected to the main office, Rand and Ron Paul. I still disagree with almost everything they say, but i at least believe them when they say they want a limited government.

I cannot say that for any other republican currently in office. At least the liberals have a "tax and spend" policy, the republicans have a "no tax and spend even more!" policy. Now you run your own business, i used to for a while, so we both should know that if one increases spending while simultaneously taking in less money, that person would be fucked, and thats putting it mildly. So from my point of view i cannot see how anything the mainstream republicans do could ever balance the books, as they seem to be unable to cut more than they are spending.
ANd i honestly cannot believe them when they say they are for a limited government when on one side they are crying for less regulation and on other are very eager to enforce regulation on everyone that doesnt align with their beliefs...religious beliefs that is, and here the inability to compartmentalise comes into play. Or do you have another explanation for why republicans (not a democrat among them) want to restrict abortion so much, they wont even allow it for rape victims.

Ill end with one of my favourite Bill Maher Quotes.

"Over the last 30 odd years, Democrats have moved to the right and the right has moved into the mental hospital. So what we have is one perfectly good party for hedge fund managers, credit card companies, banks, defense contractors, big agriculture and the pharmaceutical lobby... That's the Democrats. And they sit across the aisle from a small group of religious lunatics, flat-earthers and civil war re-enactors who mostly communicate by AM radio and call themselves the Republicans and who actually worry that Obama is a socialist. Socialist? He's not even a liberal." Bill Maher

Bill Maher is a joke. Obama is not a liberal? LMAO!!

Anyway, you're wrong on so many fronts man. Many of the GOP candidates are actively pushing to cut and reform government, program-wise and spending wise... but you're saying they want to spend more!? Also, I am not closest to Ron and Rand Paul's ideology. Especially Ron- he's a fringe kook. And Rand isn't even running for President. If I had to align myself with a current Republican it would probably be closest to Marco Rubio or Allen West (a Hispanic and a black guy no less- to the contrary of that cunt Lilith's statement that I'm just a right wing bigot).

Oh, you don't think it could change his point of view? I think it could. You are clearly wrong.

So bigoted homophobic idiots are A-OK, and people who send pictures of their cock to college chicks are the worst kind of scum. That makes sense.

create more straw men. which bigoted homophobes did I say were A-OK, and when did I elevate cock-sending politicians above pedophiles on the scumbag meter? sheesh.

If you want to crucify her over a couple of gaffes and points of view, let me count the ways I can do the same of Obama and that laughing stock of a VP he has.

Kevin Martin: Nick- he's a disgraceful liar. He lied in interview after interview on TV. Plus he voluntarily engaged with a 17 year old for his own ego stroking purposes. Damn right I don't want someone with adolescent narcissist character issues like that being a Congression representative, regardless of party. You have no problem supporting people of low moral character, and I do. But for some reason I'm a fool or something because I believe the moral fiber of our elected officials means something.

You're making this too easy. You can defend lying homophobic evil republican politicians, but you can't stand the horrible and awful "moral" issues from a democratic politician.

Edit: and didn't you just say that character doesn't matter in washington as long as they focus on the economy? Why did you change your mind all of a sudden?

Kevin, just accept the fact that you hate black people. And gays.

Step 4: Whine about liberals on TA gunning for you.
Step 5: Repeat step 1

?????????

I did NOT say character doesn't matter. Which lying homophobic republicans with no moral fiber am I defending!? What are you talking about? Evidence please that Michelle Bachman is an amoral, evil lying homophobe please (if that's who you're referring to).

Posted by The17sss on Jun-28-2011 17:36:

I know where you're going to go with this. Just because someone believes marriage should be between a man and a woman per thousands of years of tradition does not mean they hate gay people. If you think Bachman is a homophobe, then you must think Barack is too.

Exactly. I don't really care what she claims she's going to do if elected as her entire platform is built around this ideological viewpoint she adamantly defends. She has made it clear that she thinks creationism should be taught in school and that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry. Even going so far as to say if made president, she'd overturn NY's recently enacted bill to allow gay marriage.

So apparently, states rights trump federal ruling only when it's conducive to her viewpoint, a la illegal immigration. But when something such as gay marriage comes up, oh LAWDY LOOK OUT, the government can CERTAINLY tell you how to live your life there. She can't even keep her own stories straight.

She's completely full of shit, I'm sorry. I can't even believe people take this woman seriously. She lies through her teeth and bends the truth on a whim, which isn't really anything new for politicians, but she frightens me while I watch her blatantly push her archaic ideological agenda.

Pull your fucking head out of the sand, Kevin, you are contradicting yourself all over the place.

Its part of Satan I think to say that this is gay. Its anything but gay. Senator Michele Bachmann, speaking at EdWatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.
If youre involved in the gay and lesbian lifestyle, its bondage. It is personal bondage, personal despair and personal enslavement. Senator Michele Bachmann, speaking at EdWatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.
You have a teacher talking about his gayness. (The elementary school student) goes home then and says Mom! Whats gayness? We had a teacher talking about this today. The mother says Well, thats when a man likes other men, and they dont like girls. The boys eight. Hes thinking, Hmm. I dont like girls. I like boys. Maybe Im gay. And you think, Oh, thats, thats way out there. The kid isnt gonna think that. Are you kidding? That happens all the time. You dont think that this is intentional, the message thats being given to these kids? Thats child abuse. Senator Michele Bachmann, speaking at EdWatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.
Dont misunderstand. I am not here bashing people who are homosexuals, who are lesbians, who are bisexual, who are transgender. We need to have profound compassion for people who are dealing with the very real issue of sexual dysfunction in their life and sexual identity disorders. Senator Michele Bachmann, on homosexuality as a mental disorder, speaking at EdWatch National Education Conference, November 6, 2004.
It isnt that some gay will get some rights. Its that everyone else in our state will lose rights. For instance, parents will lose the right to protect and direct the upbringing of their children. Because our K-12 public school system, of which ninety per cent of all youth are in the public school system, they will be required to learn that homosexuality is normal, equal and perhaps you should try it. And that will occur immediately, that all schools will begin teaching homosexuality. Senator Michele Bachmann, on what will happen if her same-sex marriage ban amendment fails to pass in 2004, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004
This is a very serious matter, because it is our children who are the prize for this community, they are specifically targeting our children. Senator Michele Bachmann, on the gay community and same-sex marriage, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 20, 2004.
The sex curriculum will be essentially by taught by the local gay community. Senator Michele Bachmann, if her same-sex marriage ban amendment does not pass in 2004, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 20, 2004.
And what a bizarre time were in, Jan, when a judge will say to little children that you cant say the pledge of allegiance, but you must learn that homosexuality is normal and you should try it. Senator Michele Bachmann, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004.
Our children will be forced to learn that homosexuality is normal and natural and that perhaps they should try it, and thatll be very soon in our public schools all across the state, beginning in kindergarten. Senator Michele Bachmann, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 6, 2004.
We are wide open and vulnerable and in all likelihood an activist judge will strike down our Defense of Marriage Act, our state law against gay marriage, this year. And in all likelihood, we will have gay marriage in 2004 in Minnesota , if we dont get this amendment on the ballot for November. Senator Michele Bachmann, appearing as guest on radio program Prophetic Views Behind The News, hosted by Jan Markell, KKMS 980-AM, March 20, 2004.

Nothin' homophobic there. Calling homosexuality a disorder or dysfunction just reeks of acceptance.

Man you're all about splitting hairs these days. When I said "none of that shit matters" I meant in comparison to the economy in relation to the 2012 election. I thought that was pretty obvious; I didn't realize that would be so difficult to decipher, nor did I think I would have to spell it out like I'm talking to a 6 year old.

Posted by srussell0018 on Jun-28-2011 17:45:

Ooh ad hominem! Let's count all of the logical fallacies.

Ohh srussell trying to nudge his way into a discussion between 2 other people. what a fucking surprise. Ok take out the 6 year old comment in my post. I still can't believe that he took "none of that shit matters" 100% literally.

Stephen is right, you don't have to resort to ad hominem here. You feel like you're talking to a 6 year old? Give me a fucking break, asshole, if you're going to start talking down to me like that then I'm not going to bother discussing anything with you.

I'm calling you out because you claim moral fiber matters in Washington, but turn a blind eye to the blatant homophobic irrational tendencies of Michelle Bachmann, just because she's a Republican. I'm done with this, since you can't seem to be civil.

Posted by The17sss on Jun-28-2011 17:54:

the point here is that someone's stance on gay marriage will not win or lose them the election, as it shouldn't. that stance also will not be a precursor as to how well they manage/lead the country and deal with the "more important" things we face as a nation.

Posted by yukii on Jun-28-2011 17:55:

The New Deal: Fill a room in the White House with the Republicans and Democrats, lock the door & confiscate all electronic devices. Pass a fat ass blunt and see if they can agree with one another. If not, get that ugly puppet thing from Saw (americans love that shit dont they?) and say, the only way for you to get out of this room, is for both sides to compromise. FUCK. No wonder China is ahead, America is in the worst fuckin gridlock ever.
