I accredit Ferry with getting me into trance. I was listening to "Out of the Blue" on repeat my entire drive from DC to Philly. I shit you not. Also had a speeding ticket too.

The best album featuring Ferry:

Fun to watch such a response. That's the fun of vocals.

He did make many awesome remixes too, forgotten?

Still love these for example:

all 3 are fucking mint! love those tracks. Not many know "where are you now" - but fuck what a sick track!

Yeah, some tracks seem forgotten and don't get mentioned in favorite lists any more. Especially "Where are yo now" is one of those, but there are many more I think.
How he used those vocals is amazing, this still is a track which will tear down roofs when used in a set nowadays for sure.
I also forgot how sick it was and now wonder how the hell that could happen. Shame, shame, shame. Good threads like these can bring them back.

seriously?

this set is a PERFECT example why I stopped listening to Ferry.

Too fucking much SHM sound. If someone gave me this set back in the day and said this is what ferry would sound like only... 7 or so years from now, I would have spit in their face and kicked them in the nuts for lying.

glad u like it but to me - this is utter shite.

Ok, I've been listening to trance for some year now, and would like to know, why these tracks from the past sound so good?

And with "good" I'm not refering to the structure of the track or somethin...but to its sonic character. It sounds warm, involving....probably the best word to describe it would be "AUTHENTIC". It has body...
It kinda gets you from the start and doesn't let you, it makes you trip. You feel like embraced by the sound.

Today's trance sounds somehow harsh to my ears. Bright, cold, unexpressive, lifeless...like...it's there, but is just a picture, not the actual place.

Why is this. There is something. I can hear the difference with my years and feel it. Why?

Also, would you post more of these type??

Probably they sound better to you because they sound different without sounding (too) old. Less sometimes is more, especially with old tracks of early 90's which still sound amazing. One of the best examples I think is Ramirez - Hablando (Accordeon Mix), which also fits your description.

More of these type would be this one, also remixed by Ferry too keep it a bit on topic:

I picked this one for the cool vid with Yoji, don't mean the first minute

Maybe because most music these days is cold and commercial, with only the drive of making something that will be accepted by everyone and money.
