Better hit the weights!

Yeah yeah, I'll get back into it. We just bought a captain's chair/pull up bar/dip station.

I've always wondered if this thing would be awesome to use:

Been gyming pretty regularly for the past 2-3 years now. Heavily modified my diet and basically eliminated all artificial ingredients and rely primarily on a pretty balanced ratio of complex carbs / lean proteins / vegetables with protein supplements. I actually weigh less than I did then but body fat is way down and strength is way up. Definitely happy with the results.

lol I'm not going to buy the fucking thing, I already have plenty of equipment. I'm not even going for a RIPPED ZOMG BULKTASTIC BEEFCAKE 2000, but I think it would be fun to use

3-4 exercises per muscle group. Ill do compound and isolation movements and mix it up between free weights and machines.

Example: Shoulders

Lateral raise - 3 sets, 12 reps
Seated dumbbell press - 4 sets, 10 reps
Smith machine shoulder press - 3 sets, 12 reps

Sometimes ill do drop sets (do 5 reps lower the weight, do another 5 reps, lower the weight, repeat till ive done a total of 15 reps) and super sets (dumbbell press immediately following lateral raises) to change things up and shock the muscle.

Man, P90X2 is tough. I'm definitely feeling it after day 4. That foam roller works out some crazy knots in my muscles, though. Chris, did you ever get one of those?

Posted by Silky Johnson on Jan-26-2012 15:21:

I must say, the one good thing about having lost muscle mass is that my arms aren't so beefy anymore. When I start working out again I'm going to leave my arms and shoulders alone.

These finally came in the mail today.

Now I can run outside on the snow/ice instead of having to be a hamster on a treadmill

Good form

It's pretty rare to see somebody do proper squats like that.

2 weeks so far and I've gained 15 pounds of muscle and lost 5 pounds of fat. Using the below method.

Is this safe? It seems to be working too quickly. (I'm such a pessimist nowadays.) And, I do not want to sacrifice bigger issues like my heart continuing to work in 20 years because of a shortcut now.

So my company is doing some "Global Corporate Challenge" where they send you a pedometer and you gotta log X number of steps or whatever. I've already been running ~2 miles 5 times a week, might need to start upping the ante.

Posted by Lagrangian on Apr-27-2012 16:48:

thanks for bumping

run-on-average ~ +9miles a week at varying velocities.

I have a pair of New Balance 993 US Navy edition, and they are awesome. Best running shoes I've ever worn.
