i agree that there is definitely a missing link between playlisting and support for artist releases, but it does seem to do an artist a solid boost in sales if it's playlisted on ASOT or TATW (you can pretty much see by Beatport sales how much a difference this makes, especially for smaller labels). even going by youtube hits, those shows get so many rips uploaded. DJ support (from bigger names) is definitely beneficial for exposure and seemingly sales as well

the trend in music would show the opposite. I mean you couldn't actually make an album let alone a career without major label support in the 70s.

There's that tedious old argument that Deadmau5 ripped somebody else off. Who cares? I heard it, it was great, I bought it.

In fact Random Album Title is the last physical media I bought.

Almost the second you're different somebody else will come along and do it better anyway, so just do what you like doing and make it fucking rock. Chasing the trend won't work as everybody else is doing it. Dudes like Neelix make the same kind of thing over and over again, but he does it so well that his fanbase remains intact.

everyone copies. I think having an identiy is the difference. Deadmau5 sounds like deadmau5. Even tho he changes, he sounds like deadmau5. That comes with knowing what hou like, and knowing what you don't like. SOunds simple but most people don't really have a strong sense of self. Most people don't really have clear cut defined tastes and that is required to sound like something that is unique to you.

Copying is not really the term. You are taking something you like, and putting it in your own context. That is different that using the same thing in the same context. Can't think of any artist that could argue his ideas are his own. The best way to learn and develop your style is to seek out as much music as you can and snag what you like. Every great artist did this.

A hit can be created and most are
It's not always about earning it cos of the quality
You as artist are a BRAND

On TV you saw Dewy when her album was presented she got a nomination.
At that nomination she herself made the mistake by saying the price was bought
More known artists have explained that it works that way ,thats not fairytale

Pia sadora is super rich so that product had enough promotion money and became a world hit

The studio where i worked had an owner who taught me a lot.
She is singer-rapper and is signed by BMG
And she has been on various tv shows and performances [Op Volle Toeren]
In her studio many of the IT album songs have been created
And i've been to various big labels myself over the years as well
So i know how it works am not talking from my butt ,but am trying to give hope

What does a member gain by us saying their music is shit ?
Nothing ,so then you don't contribute in his-her possible success.
I rather explain how it works in commercial world so they don't think their bad if they don't sell enough.
That might inspire ,putting others down is only depressing those who are unsure about themselves.

But there are many young new artists who take anything seriously and personal.

The poster was just trying to make a point so i'm not sad or mad.
Just find it a shame that it gets seen so negatively.
And like said above many times the negative remarks come from members that don't even have a youtube or soundclick link.

So it's only attacking and not even showing they know what their talking about.

I don't mind people saying things are badif they can explain in concrete terms that don't have to do with taste. Most people can't. MSZ and system j are notorious for imposing their tastes as the borameter to what is goodandbad.that shit annoys me.

I love other opinions and other tastes as that inspires me as well.
Thats why i also make the type of music that i make.
I like notes so put many in while its more commercial if i would go more minimal.
I just got too much inspiration to create minimal
And like you i wont get-create a song cos its popular ,but cos i like it.

But you can really brainwash people into buying a song.
If your at your job and you hear the same song each hour.
Then it gets stuck in your head and you start to whistle it haha

Then all copies are sold thus that way you can still hype up an artist

When i was 13-14 I found this site called eurodancehits.com It was great, i was introduced to eurotrance videos. I probably know too many tracks, I called out some guy in the music producer forum stealing Lightforce - join me. I never discard what I once liked, I still like it.

Im gonna give that video a whirl later on D.
