Whats the problem with this? For money or not, that album was great! It was a work from many great DJ's. The songs are great and also it was very original!
I cant stop listening to Push remix of "Boys & Girls"!!!

Alright I guess Im really late to this post but Id just like to add some of my comments...
I first discovered trance about over 3 years ago now, (maybe more??), a friend had lent me a burnt CD with some files on it I needed, and it also happened to have the original Tranceport on it... out of curiosity I took a listen, the first tune I happened to click was PvD - Words, and boy it was a pleasant suprise. I had no idea music like that was made, and I was hooked. Over time I discovered the other various genres of elecronica, and my tastes got very broad. For a while now, trance just hasnt suprised me like it used to. Most of the new tracks are different synths and tunes arranaged in the same buildup/breakdown format. Really the only 2 trance DJs/producers whove managed to keep my intrest are AvB and PvD, Armin because of his weekly radio show where he can show off fresh tunes, and Paul because his style is really flexable. He can get away with playing really unique tunes (one that comes to mind is that really groovy tune in the Loveparade preparty set before Summer in Space), and his productions are generally fresh and dont usually follow the same formula, unlike a lot of other producers I can think of (tho Arctic kinda sounds like Paul's answer to Sun Decade - Im alone to me . 
).
I think the main problem with modern trance is that most DJ's producers dont progress and evolve their sound. By now, we have firmly established a decent population of well known producers of trance, who have huge fan bases and are sailing smooth on their record contracts. This, I think is the problem. These producers either dont want to try to create bold new sounds and genres, or their musicical inspiration, while great in its time, simply got old and tiresome. I wont name any names here, because I know I will be instantly flamed into oblivion... this is just my theory.

I first remember hearing the lush sound of some dreamy strings and electronic melodies back in 1990 and wondered what that amazing new sound was. Back then, in the world of Break beat and Happy Hardcore, this new sound was classed as Techno! I listen back today and it�s most defiantly Trance. Funny I look back at flyers from those days and see my name playing in the Techno room!!! My love for Trance music continued from that day on. I saw myself playing at Psy and Goa Trance parties across the World. I had to make a difficult decision around 1996 to chose between the free parties, where you didn�t get paid, or move into mainstream clubland where offers where coming in thick and fast...It was an obvious choice, I had bills to pay!!!
Between 1996 & 1998 was a good year for Trance music (Sounds like I�m describing a good wine!). I think this is where most people discovered Trance. I remember doing my Euro mix for Danny Rampling on Radio 1 and people where freaking over this new sound that they where hearing! This new sound had actually been around for a while in the underground dance clubs for many years, but was just starting to get the exposure that it deserved. Funny, back in 1998, I had been playing Bonzai record for over 5 years�. most people today have only discovered them over the past couple of years, shows how long Trance has been around!! We also saw the birth of a young DJ Tiesto, , MIKE (Push), Jon the Dentist and Baby Doc to name a few.
It was scary how quickly the Trance scene exploded from that day on. I think Trance music can appeal to everyone, as it�s so diverse. It can be hard, methodic, have vocals or be deep, it can appeal to almost everyone, and I think that�s why it will never die and why it is still so popular today. The media gave Trance music a tuff time in the year 2000; in fact they tried to kill it off, which I thought was a bit harsh??? But at the end of the day people vote with their feet and Trance survived, the media had to come back with their tails between their legs otherwise they�d be without their money making adverts and record and club reviews that people wanted to see and read. Ha!!
Lets go back to the question �Are people getting board with Trance?� I think it�s time to move on from that old formulated sound, it been around since 1998. Gated strings, powerful brassy synth sounds, and galloping baselines. The world of technology has moved on in studio land and there is a more intelligent sound being born. Unfortunately this sound isn�t being given the chance to breathe due to the lack of underground clubs in clubland, a vital source of exposure for new music. (I spoke about this in a previous column where I talked about the state of clubland). So in answer to the question, yes I think a lot of people are getting bored with that old sound, I see them chatting about it on the internet and on my website.
If you haven�t realised already, Trance music has moved away from that old formulated sound, there is lots of intelligent music out there you just have to find it or find the DJ�s that play it and support them. I�ve always prided myself on moving with the times and innovating the way forward for Trance music. It�s been very difficult for me lately playing to people in a world where they expect drum rolls and euphoric moments every five minutes!! It�s starting to pay off for me now as people are realising that I am giving them something new and exposing them to tomorrows Trance music. My last CD compilation �Euphoria White label� had nothing but underground Trance tracks on it, no big hits, just new Trance music and it has sold over 90,000 copies to date, that proves that people are wanting something new.
There�s nothing wrong with having more genres of Trance, we all have our different tastes in music, some like more uplifting some like hard, and perhaps I�m looking for the more intelligent stuff. There are many new artists out there, many new DJ�s with fresh sounds, we should all step back and give them a chance. It�s time for a new breed of Trance people to be born. Trance music will live on�"

if you don't know how then learn man!!
no you don't have to buy a Protools system.
even with a $20 software from an office store you can make a track more interesting. Or edit the track so that it fits with the kind of energy that makes your heart sing.
debating what genre of EDM you like better because you are tired of the same old is like trying to play drumbs with toothpicks. Make you own sound..make it yours..not anybody elses.....
I got a chance to sit down at the studio with ARmin 2 weeks ago and had the best conversation about producing.
It's like it's about how the music makes you feel. Find inspiration from different genres (non-EDM) look at Delirium - Silence. That wasn't inspired by an old house track. Sarah Mclachlan is totally from left field. I remember Tiesto played some Dave Matthews remix once....I was like "What in the Hell?"
if you don't like the buildup then sample the song and 86 the buildup put some housy bass line if that floats your boat....how about a break beat...Armin has been doing that lately...
if you must spin out with vinyl and that is what you collect music for than get final scratch and do like Ritchie Hawtins. I was talking to some other so called "big djs" and they all bring CD's with them with original stuff or loops or never released remixes that either they or their friends did.
Now more than ever production equipment is available for very cheap...the future of EDM and bringing everyone together is in everyone producing original stuff....no excuse guys...
Just remember though as a DJ it's about having a good time and having a great party...think about what changes could move the crowd better.

"since 1998" ... hmm, 1998 is when PvD released For An Angel as a single and since then his shit has all sounded the same (along with a lot of trance). i guess PvD "killed" trance! : )).
but bottom line is to keep listening to what you like despite if it is "dying" or if is commercial or underground or whatever (unless you are just a poseur <-- remember this word?).

Personally, I wish he kept that sort of style, than the one he has now...but that doesn't mean I don't like his current style.
