Congrats laurent for reaching #2 in the beatport charts.

Considering a lot of cheese infested pseudo trance gets polluted this is awesome stuff.

For those who aren't aware, on Monday 29/10 the second part of Parellel Lines is going to be released: "Bright Lines". It seems it's going to be something totally different from "Dark Lines" as Laurent points out himself in his latest post on his website:

Thank you guys, from the bottom of my heart, and I hope you forgive me for taking another direction every now and then. Remember: It�s not what I want to represent only, it�s just a one-off that I needed to accomplish and that I wanted to share with incredible talent I had the chance to meet the last few years. The reason why I don't reply sometimes is because I can't be everywhere all the time. My main occupations, music making, music business and distribution, and teaching eat all of my time and also my energy. So I have to be selective sometimes when it comes to replying. so, planisphere is his best guise now. moonshine is an out and out classic - that and industry colliding on magik 7 was sheer awesome.

Artists have sometimes very bad relationships with a bigger audience. And with the growth of social networks, the internet and everything else, we had to face the real world sometimes. Now we're over it, hopefully and found better ways to communicate.

Music is my way of life, I was made for that, and there's probably nothing else I can do the right way for a living (but I have dayjobs too!!), at least for myself. I hope it's clear now for everyone. We don't make much money nowadays and it's probably much better that way.

Many people told me to make commercial music if I wanted to make it in the industry, sign to hyped labels, go make more promotion, do this/that/this again/not that anymore as it's uncool.

I'm going to tell you why today I think it's irrelevant. Our lifespan of approximately 85 years leaves us only about 55 of them to accomplish things that we think are worth it, and this is exactly what I want to do now for me and my family. It may be anything as long as it makes sense. The search for success and fame is as much time and energy consuming as it is irrelevant. And it's limited in time as much as it is selfish.

One thing animates my determination today, that is the pride my kids might eventually feel the day I am no more with them, that their kids and the generations to come will eventually pass on to the generations after theirs. The pride of having someone who didn't make art for fame and success but as a way of life. Articles and interviews in the media are great help for the time being, but in 300 years only one thing will remain, that's what we made during those 55 years. Everything else will be irrelevant.

That said, I like reading your messages, and it's always a pleasure to hear someone talk positively about what you've done. So again, thanks so much.

We greatly appreciate you, Airwave, and the fact that you chose to do music for art and not for fame is awesome.

You're right; people in 300 years will remember us for what we did, not how popular, famous, or how hyped up and promoted we are. In 50 years nobody will know who Tiesto is, how popular he was, or would really care about how promoted he is.

But people will always remember good music and art.

Eh, I think Tiesto will be remembered, but more like how KISS is remembered, as an act notorious for their live performances, cult-like fanbase, occasional good tune, and business mentality.

And Lo', that's an incredibly awesome stance to have as a musician. I'm sure you've had a few commercial successes that made reaching for the brass ring all the more tempting, but all too often I've seen acts stumble and fall whenever they go for it. It's better to do what feels right for the self. Sincerity should always take precedent, even if it's not always financially practical.

heros get remembered...but legends never die

10 years from now tiesto will still be doing his in concert seris and playing crappy music. they will remember him as a pop act
but airwaves music will be eternal. when i have kids i will pass it down to them

Nice reply your album was far better than all of the shitty albums released by all of the Armada artists in the past 4-5 years imo.

I honestly think social networking sites are to blame for slump in the quality of the genre. The scene is flooded with people who don't know anything about the genre and those who do refuse to educate themselves of how the genre began. Now bpms and loud annoying sounds seems to the big thing atm where producers like binary finary and so on are asking people on facebook about bpms since when do bpms determine the genre?

yea i kinda agree
i think the problem also is pretty much alot of dj's and producers are jumping ship to keep up with what the big dj's are doing...

tiesto,ferry,armin,a&b,dash berlin,gareth emery etc etc are all jumping on this new electro trouse sound which is played also by house dj's so they are doubleing their fan base
so you have lesser known guys like say cosmic gate who were once putting out some quality trance music but are now sitting in their studio for hours trying to make a track just so it can get on one of the big guys radio shows or podcasts to get more exposure.
they have abandoned their sound and the fans who made them who they were. its already starting to happen now where when they spin at festivals the house guys are headlineing and they arent, even tho their whole plan was to cross over

myself and people like me are laughing
its only a matter of time before these guys see that their plan isent working out completely and they switch back to trance and act as if the whole trouse thing never happend

commercial hits are top of the pops for some months a year... true classics rest forever.

We get behaviours like this from the artist themselves. Gareth Emery is the biggest a hole there is. This is handled so unprofessionally by the Emery its not funny. I don't think those people will switch back to how they produce once you sell your soul to commercialism its virtually impossible to come back.

as for armin. he did announce today his line-up for den bosh and i must say it dont look to shabby. only beef i have with it is the name of the stage its called something like
"who is afraid of 138?"
it just makes it sound like harder uplifting stuff is a dirty,unpopular sound and why would you even label it as that...

on an more airwave note... i just got back from seeing oliver lieb here in nyc, i asked him about doing a track with airwave...he said "at the moment iam currently tryin to get back into a more techno sound, but i do like the idea for the future"
he did play some new and exclusive stuff and if you're as much as a lieb fan as iam then i will just say this stuff is alot harder than his current stuff on beatport...he is currently shoping it around

Personally I prefer hearing more of the older sound of the uplifting trance. Modern stuff bores me. I much prefer stuff the uplifting style from the 90's till late to mid 2000's. The last uplifting trancer I enjoyed was from Laurent which was Pop the Cat's Adventure and Myla's Theme Oldschool Mix. I just don't hear the passion being put into the style anymore by other producers that inspires me to listen to it more than once. I am sure Airwave has the same exact problem when people send him boring tracks.

Airwave and Oliver Lieb collaboration would be awesome.I heard he's going to collaborate with Astropilot in the future. I hope they make something really deep.

also, im a great fan of all your works with markus schulz (ballymena, angelica, and some remixes). my respect!

Just picked up Dark Lines and must say it is quite awesome
