that was one for the books too

its michael's bday, they are going to hard, and we are gonna rendevous with them after.

Posted by 72hrpartyanimal on Nov-03-2012 03:55:

i had to skip out as Gina was tired, not me though... i was ready for the long haul

keep me posted on the after hour festivities... but again, I am at the mercy of my loving and beautiful wife (had to type that just in case she's reading this).

Posted by dollaroff on Nov-04-2012 17:03:

How was it? Sad I missed it, but there was no way I was getting there until after 2 (after the Metro stops running) and I didn't want to taxi back home.

How sick was Digweed last night? He started off with some pounding tech house and techno, then for the last 2 hours he was dropping ridiculous mind melting track after track. Dark and really aggressive sounds. He played for 4 hours and a lot of people stayed until the very end.

He also played this track from his 2007 essential mix, which I really like.

I thought Digweed was good for about an hour, but then it all started sounding very minimal, monotone, and like he was playing the same song for 2 hours. I felt his track selection was lacking soul, missing layers and important elements.

But it was really good to see some of you.

Billy, I'm in love with your wife! She's so adorable and I loved having her as a dance partner lol

Posted by in2muzikk on Nov-04-2012 21:30:

I thought the first hour was a bit of a warmup in typical Digweed fashion, but the last 3 hours were one incredible mind fawk, deep dark tribal & progressive. I was there until the end, and he threw another track on after the lights came up, seemed he didn't want to end but had to go...

LOL! She says she feels the same way

I had a good time myself. Got really hammered as usual. Woke up with a hangover as usual. But overall, a great night. Good to see a lot of the family last night

Digweed was wicked.

Posted by elektrikal on Nov-05-2012 00:06:

Like Julia, I thought first hour was solid fun beats, then it went a little directionless, which is a shame cuz I was pumpin myself for this show w/ his transitions nov 2 show which had some real sick tracks.

Anyone know the warmup dj's name?

Posted by Miss Julia on Nov-05-2012 01:46:

I thought the last hour of the warm up djs set was better than Digweed.

@___@ he was unleashing massive tune after massive tune heavy, dark, deep, and tribal.

I wasn't really into the opening DJ, but thought Digweed's set was great, probably best one that I've heard over the last year (out of 4 or 5 others). I'm really glad we all like different music, or this world would be such a boring place!

agreed 100%
I prefer when Kazelle opens up for Digweed. They've been friends for a long time so Kazelle knows exactly what to do to set the mood right.

+1. I like Adam but he's really shines more as a deep house DJ IMO. I really enjoy his sets at his Soul and Tonic events. I know he has a pretty wide range since he also has to play more commercial stuff for his Disney gigs but I thought his track selection didn't really fit the Digweed style and was too uptempo IMO. It really showed when it went from his last track to Digweed's a lot slower, more mellower opener. When Kazell opens for Digweed, the night seems to have a better overall flow musically for me.

couldn't have said it better myself.

edit*

i also noticed that the opening DJ has a big affect on Digweeds attitude. If he really likes the opener, he tends to feel a little more relaxed. he looked a little more tense on Saturday. could have been the new venue too... who knows.

We were guessing what Digweed was talking about to the Exchange guys when he got there. My guess was that there was way too much lighting going on especially on the DJ booth. Digweed always seems to like it dark, with no lighting on the DJ. Even with the LED display behind Adam turned off during his set, it was pretty bright and you could see Adam clearly. When Digweed came on, all of those lights were gone and even with the LED display, you could only see the signature Digweed shadow the rest of the night.

THIS. I will post a couple videos to youtube and post links later. but yeah those last 2 hours were some alien shit. true progressive. We were so tired and everytime we talked about leaving he kept dropping sick mixes.

havent closed out a club like that in a while. good to see diggers is still all business.

so good.
