If it's not my style and other people like I appreciate their opinions on the music, but people gonna flame around about music where they know the shit of is the greatest example of beeing noobish

I completely agree Ste. Although it also makes sense what speedracer's saying about moving from one genre to the next. I'm doing that, started in "cheese" moved to breaks and prog. I just don't have the smug/arrogant "holier than thow" attitude about it all (that is very sad and sickening). I mean if you don't like the music fine, but why slag on someone else? I mean chances are YOU even listened to the same type before so why be a hypocrite? (that's to all those "prog elitists")
Just my two cents...

DJs:
Paul van Dyk, Tall 2XLC, Dumonde, Blank & Jones, Cosmic Gate, Scot Project, CJ Stone, DJ Taucher, Kai Tracid..................

Producers/remixers:
Martin Eyerer, Green Court, Reeloop, Woody Van Eyden, Derb, Aquagen, Tillmann Uhrmacher...........don't forget some of the DJs I listed are great producers/remixers too

Damn........too many to name........

Ever actually heard some of those DJ's you've mentioned?
theres a thread on the same page saying how bad talla is at mixing, and Cosmic Gate haven't even grasped beat matching yet! (I saw them 2 weeks ago, they're severely train wrecked at least 4 times, and they did it the night after as well), and I've heard numerous complaints about taucher lately as well.
you go look at the top 10 DJ's in the world, see how many of them are German

Posted by oDrori on Sep-25-2002 23:28:

Aren't production skills taken in concern as well then? Cause thats where I consider Dumonde, PvD, Corsten and many others strengths lie.

DuMonde Trancer... WOW!
For once, I entirely agree with you.

No offense but I thought you'd lost it a long time ago.
Now I see that at least there's still hope.
Regarding your post, it's absolutely correct.

Everyday, I try to write down the dumbest thing I see/hear. Today, the 25th of September, you are the winner.

LOL
But I have to agree with him; personally, I never liked his stuff either. Just my 2c. And I do think that Germany is under-rated and is in fact the best country for Trance.

Posted by speedracer_mec on Sep-26-2002 01:15:

ok germany is good...but they never associate themselves with trance..look at pvd..he says he doesnt dj trance musik. but rather <' electronic musik." Look at timo maas...he even dissed trance in one of his traks..on his loud album. Come on the thread is about where the best trance djs reside at.

now as for djloonie..please look at ur name beffore u critique others...."dj loonie"???

Why do you say that?

I used to like Oakey but now I don't cuz all he plays is break-beats and I don't like that.

I saw Oakey at Pacha in july. He did play one really long break beat mix of Dirty Vegas - Days Gone By, but thats the only breaks I remember in the set. Granted, I think it lasted about 10 minutes.

Posted by assassin8 on Sep-26-2002 01:37:

I don't get it. Why do so many people tell other people what trance really means? or What or who to listen to? I think its all bullshit. You listen to whatever you like. period. I don't think anyone has the right to say you gotta listen to this because it's not cheese this is real trance. I respect everyone's opinion and i don't say no you are wrong because you don't like what I am listening to. That is just ridiculous. Who decides what cheese is anyway? To me cheese is what is played out. Not because it has too many vocals or too many cheesy tunes or whatever other people say cheese is.

My point is listen to what ever you like and don't listen to people that say what to listen to. I mean I listen to other people suggestions and check out what their music is all about and if I don't like it, i don't listen to it. But its ok to not like what others do.

P.S. I never meant to diss Oakey in anyway. I used to love his sets in 1999 and 2000. But recently I haven't heard any sets. I heard Bunkka and The Swordfish Soundtrack and I didn't like it at all. If anyone knows of any of his recent sets, let me know I wanna check them out, maybe I'll like them again or maybe not.

I believe that the great thing about our country (UK) in terms of dance music, is the fact that we have a good scene for most genres. This extends outside of dance music too really. In areas where we may be lacking many reputable and prolific djs/producers there is a large and commercially viable scene with millions of clubbers 'up for it' and capable of filling loads of clubs for top DJs to play. So we get the 'best' talent across the board.

We ARE lacking in the Euro-trance department, cos everything blew up too quickly in 98/9 and loads of the bandwagoneers have jumped off. Many of these are the first to diss trance, but little do they know that we're better off without them and other nations (Belgium, Holland, Germany, Italy, Canada, US, Australia...the list goes on) have continued to churn out wicked trance music. Some countries more than others depending on your tastes.

There's plenty of talent and creativity to go around: let's just continue to help dance music grow on a global scale. The next wave of clubbers will have their own sound and more DJs from many different countries will always play pioneering electronic music.

Everythin evolves and the British scene will continue on it's rollercoaster path, fulled and reported in mixmag & ministry no doubt.

Just keep on dancing!

Everyone is entitled to their own likes and dislikes. IMO. Well i don't follow the crowd and i like the german djs such as Paul Van Dyk etc. and the dutch ones ie. Ferry Corsten does it matter where they originate from??? As for the cheese issue i believe that doesn't even matter since music is music every has their own tastes for all i care you could like the "Spice Girls" and guess what i still won't give damn about that and i'm not gonna make a big deal about it.
Peeps are entitled to their likes and dislikes nuff said.

Posted by Nadi on Sep-26-2002 07:01:

Can we all put are natianal pride aside and just agree that good music is good music regardless of were it comes from? In all honesty, every decent sized citys gonna get some big names every once in a while, and there origins mean exactly 0 to the music.
