Well.. I dont know who the worst DJ is... but I would have to say the most overrated DJ is DJ Tiesto. His In Search of Sunrise cds are great. I love IOS 3 that cd rocks my world... BUT I have heard a bunch of his live sets and the overlap and blending is weak and he does very quick mixes. I dont think he thinks about the "journey" as much as he show.. his flow would greatly increase.

I have tonnes of his production material and remixes by him that I love.. but lacks in the live department.

my 2 cents
peace

i would sayblank and jones definitely suck. i hate the crap the play its always so played out. they have a fuckign hard no for fragma and their crappy vocal tracks. and there productions recently have sucked. desire was ok but only the 4 strings and silverblue remixes. there new cd substance is lacking it. and there mixing style, wtf are they doing when there spinning? are they too busy jerking eachother off that the security has to move the crossfader over for them? absolute crap...makes me sad.

Posted by torontotrance on Oct-22-2002 04:54:

I forgot to add another CRAP deejay.....dear to wookieslut's heart.
ATB is a horrible dj, horrible producer and all around tool. His sets are filled with trash and supposed real trance tracks which are really just eurotrash danced up.

Have you listened to Magik 6 and Energy 2000?
Top live sets IMO

Whoever says Tiesto is the worst dj in the world is the BIGGEST TOOL in the world

Posted by DJ Sinergy on Oct-22-2002 05:06:

hahah

I didnt say he was the worst DJ.. I said he was overrated.. BIG difference.. He gained more fame by one remix than anyone else ever did Dilerium - Silence. I am not saying he sucks.. I just think he is way overrated... most DJs can pull off a couple good nights and have great sets.. but he is definately not a DJ who is great everytime you hear him.. he is hot and cold.

sorry if you dont like my opinion Tiesto lovers.. I used to really like him and then really listened to his mixes and became less and less impressed. Personally I think if you are a major fan of Tiesto's mixes then you are probably not a DJ and dont have the ear to actually hear and identify a quality mix.

Posted by DJ Sinergy on Oct-22-2002 05:07:

btw.. I think they stopped using the word TOOL in the late 80's

Hmm, I've been a Tiesto fan ever since Magik 1 came out in 1997. THREE YEARS before Silence came out. Silence just brought him DJ superstardom to the mainstream.

No other dj has the power of narrative and melodic blending as creatively as Tiesto does. Innercity & ENERGY 2000 ___track placement was just pure genius and they are both pre>silence

I recognize that his mixing technique is not the best as far as beatmatching goes< but his flow is unmatched and definitely not overrated>

Not only am I dj< i"m also a classically trained musician with over ten years of studying theory and harmony to back up what i"m saying> Jump on the Tiesto hating bandwagon< that"s the mainstream thing to do

Delerium gets the credit from me, I dont listen to tiesto, but I do like a couple of Delerium albums, especially Semantic Spaces & the song Silence...

Oh yeah, and DJ Alligator sucks... blow my whistle LOL, stupid song title rivals those old stupid Prodigy tracks back in the day.

ATB was interviewed in our local alternative newsweekly in my town... They like his melodic techno as they termed it. I only wish Paul Van Dyk would get that kind of credit, since he actually plays good melodic techno Well I know he aint techno, but thats what the newsweekly said

Well all you did was confirm what I said.. I said he gained all of his fame (superstar status) from his Silence release. I didn't say he wasn't around or that ppl didn't follow him before that at all.

As you stated yourself... his beat matching technique is not the best.. THAT is exactly what I am saying.. is that not part of being a great superstar DJ? Personally Flow is a good part of it.. but you also have to back that up with beat matching. I stated in the beginning his In Search of Sunrise 3 cd is amazing. I am simply saying that Live he is overratted.

I am not on a mainstream hate bandwagon by any means... Tiesto has some great tracks that he has remixed, produced, and track selection in his sets is generally very good.

All I did was voice my opinion and you basically just backed up exactly what I was trying to say. I am sorry you are a major fan and obviously took offense to what I said... but give me a break I am enititled to my opinion just as much as you are.. Relax

peace

The beatmatching isn't his problem, the transitions between the tracks are! He just can't fuckin count! The tunes he picks are great most of the time though.

Fine, but mentioning his name in the 'worst dj in the world' thread is way off base. That was my only concern here. Peace.

Posted by orison on Oct-22-2002 21:20:

Wink

WORST DJ = Scott Bond (loooooooooooser)
MOST OVERRATED = Dave Pearce (picks up the mainstream trax then sticks'em in his euphorias, and sells it for a high price [higher than GU prices!!!])
I DISAGREE = Judge Jules is AWESOME! TIESTO is so!
I ADREE = ATB didn't make it as a dj, he made it producing. he's good in chillout music.. and he deserves respect for that.

Oh my god, it took until the 5th page before he got a mention. What are you all playing at. He is sensationally crap. He is a joke, so bad that when I saw him live I started making rude gestures at him which he spotted and just bowed his head in shame. He managed one decent mix out of 20, he played the most watered down cheesy crap I have ever heard in my life. He played a bootleg of 2 tunes being mixed in and out of one another and he was acting like he was doing it! Nooooooooooo, not another horribly phasing beat, arghhhhhhhhhh!

If you live in Scotland you will know who Joe Deacon is. The boke who can't mix and shouts on the mic to hide the thrashing beats. "The next track....the next track....gonna blow ya mind...upstairs crew...the old man is rocking the place!" What?!?!?!?!

Posted by djjesp on Oct-22-2002 22:13:
