| Originally posted by sifntj0r i'd have to say pvd pales in comparison to oakenfold. oakie is just the master of creating an awesome journey/atmosphere in his sets. while early to mid this year he 'experimented' with some other tracks, if you listen to his recent sets you'd know there is none better going around. not to mention, if you draw on past performances, the em world tour sets are godlike to say the least. i also fully disagree with the notion that dj's shouldn't worry about mp3 livesets etc. Surely the greatest talent of a dj lies in being able to take a listener on a journey if they're sitting at home/on their computer. If they can do that, then imagine just how much greater the atmosphere is at the actual event. |
As someone who prefers "democratic" (accessible) Trance to "aristocratic" crap spun by Paul van Dyk and many other big names such as Oakenfold and now Tiesto, I don't care much for him. Sorry if I offended anyone. Unfortunately, fame corrupts, and absolute fame corrupts absolutely. Look beyond the hype. Go to your local vinyl shop. There is a mountain of undiscovered talent that never gets any publicity, that's always obscured by the 'big names' whose fans think they follow their idols but are really living in the past (e.g. Tiesto -> Magik/TrancEnergy, Gouryella -- endless threads about this ancient project, etc.)

| Originally posted by escee i disagree with your disagreement. Djs dont have enough records to play a different set every night which is truly awesome. All the people sitting behind their puters downloading their 10th tiesto set this week isnt someone who the DJs should cater for. When I go to see armin this friday, i dont want him to play a set to cater for the people who have heard all of his sets for the past 2 months. I do want to hear some new stuff, but I want to hear a few of the classics too. |

PvD Has proved himself perfectly at the Rosenmontags Rave, the set he played there was absoloutley amazing and moved around from minimalistic techno to bangin uplifting trance.
I Think he is one of the greatest DJs of our generation along with Sasha and Digweed, Tenaglia, Carl Cox and Rui Da Silva [You should catch him live, hes awesome!]

The first 30 minutes of Rosenmontagsrave were good but then it collapses like a twin tower
