$16-$20
The price of vinyl is shocking! yet, I'll willingly spend $20 on a record without hesitation (when I actually do have money). I haven't spent over $20 for one record...yet.
I reckon vinyl looks so much cooler than cds. And I love the feel of it too!
I suppose buying cds is much more economical, but, I think vinyl is special! I luuuuuuurve vinyl! I have ever since I was a youngin. Used to always play with the ol' turntable and the ol' records...heh, I still do!
I don't have that many mp3s, only about 450MB worth (a quarter of my hard drive! *kicks crappy computer*). And the majority of my CDs are burnt from other people. I rarely have sufficient cash for these things

I still buy CD singles, I can often find awesome stuff for under $10, e.g. Push - Strange world (2000 remake) CD single for $4... and many many more rare classics, all for betewen $1 and $4. Though it does take time, effort, knowledge and experience to find them. I've become good at spotting treasures, after many years!
If I had to pay full price for all the treasures I have found, or pay the price of how much they'd go for if they were auctioned, I'd be out-of-pocket some thousands of dollars.
There are quite a few different perspectives on the topic of music, music formats and money & time spent on music. Many issues come into play:
Progress of technology ("Digital format does not degrade in quality anywhere near the extent that analog format does.", "Vinyl will eventually die, the future is digital.","There may come a new format that will replace vinyls for DJ mixing.")
Audio quality & perception of it ("Vinyl has hiss and pops, I want a perfectly pure sound, only sounds that the artist intended to have.", "CD audio format has better sound quality than MP3 format, because MP3 compression is lossy.", "Vinyl sounds better, period.")
Physical space & Portability ("Vinyl's too big, I can fit 900 hours of music on an 80GB hard disk drive that can fit in my pocket.")
DJing ("You feel closer to & more in-control of the music when mixing with vinyls.")
Artist & record company royalties ("I pay for music because the artists deserve my money for their work.", "I don't pay for music because the record companies are rich and greedy and I'm poor.")
Trying before buying ("I download all the latest tracks and buy the ones I think are really worth buying.")
Downloading MP3s instead of buying ("Why should I buy music when I can download it for almost no cost?", "I work in a music shop, so I don't need to download any music.", "I'm rich enough to buy all music that I want or even don't want.")
Emotional and sentimental values that people place on things and how they may varyingly equate to money and time ("it is worth spending the money on it for the feeling of having vinyl", "it is worth spending the time to find it", "That vinyl sold for $80 on ebay", "vinyls look so nice", "original CDs are worth more than CDR copies, even if the CDR is an exact bit-for-bit copy");
The way attitudes/mindsets can change as one's life progresses ("I need to save to buy a house to live in", "I need to save money to invest in assets that accumulate in value and generate passive income... the income I make from investments will then help me pay for the things I like");
The images/stereotypes of the culture ("The great DJs only use vinyl, so vinyl must be a good thing", "spinning vinyl looks cool", "CD and MP3 mixing is uncool.")
These are just some thoughts that go through my head.
Now I'm off to do some downloading to add to my collection.
