First real stomach bug for the kiddo today. Just swapped out sheets since she puked up what seemed like 4 liters of milk & formula in the crib too! Breaks her 8 month streak of sleeping 11+hours straight.

Yikes, I dread the first nasty sickness. I was sick as fuck on mother's day weekend, then my husband got it. We figure we both got it from our daughter, whose symptoms were very mild compared to ours, who got it from our friends' baby. Anyway, I was glad she didn't get as sick as us. I literally could not get up from the floor one morning and my husband had to come home from work.

Young kids often still can play or go to school while not feeling to well. For us mostly it's more like feeling totally miserable for several days at the best, when not being chained to the bed.

Yes, no clue how the little ones just roll with deathly sickness. My wife has had the same where she was just in bed all day. Glad I work from home

Welp, pretty sure our babe is ready to drop to just one nap a day. Have been looking forward to and also dreading this nap transition, but at least she's gonna do it while I'm still at home/not when she goes off to daycare.

There's so much more time for activities!

We have our first plane trip coming up. 4+ hour flight to the other coast. Hoping all is quiet and smooth.

Oh yes, that part I'm looking forward to for sure. The transition itself I am not. I'm too impatient, I want it to happen overnight basically. Lol.

Being forgetful is relevant to parenting.

I can only imagine how we will deal with the first plane ride. Right now we are working on tooth #2 and pulling up in our crib, crawling absolutely everywhere. This guy's a wild man. When he starts walking I think he will begin running within a week or two lol. I'm in for a trip

Not walking yet here, and totally cool with it! Has made all this time off together mostly pretty relaxed, heh.

I gotta say, waiting an extra 20-30 mins for take out is usually fine...unless you are planning a bottle at take off...mainly to help pop her ears. First plane ride was slightly rough, but luckily we were surrounded by a lot of other kids under 8. So the occasional yelping seemed to be ok.

I wouldn't (and didn't) fly with a young baby unless it was an emergency. I don't think it's fair to the baby, first and foremost, or the passengers on the plane who have to listen to a potentially miserable infant.

I know it can and does work out just fine for many people, but yeah I couldn't do it. A child's infancy is such a short time in their life - in our lives - travel can wait.

For the first 6 months I used to beat myself up thinking I should have been carting my baby out and around more places, but then I realized, being a working mother, this period of her life was the most time I would have with her by myself for probably her whole life.

I feel ya, and totally get it. All that alone time is amazing the first few months. We've taken her to the aquarium and some parks etc when she was <6months. But now that is is getting closer to 11 months she is totally enjoying those activities a lot more.

This trip was for family, so seeing her cousin play with her makes it worth it to us. But yea, if it was just me and her, flying wouldn't be planned for a while!

A lot of the guilt was definitely due to the influence of my sister, who was always saying "You NEED to do this" and "You NEED to do that" etc. I am, and always have been, perfectly content not doing much of anything. The minute I stopped feeling like I had to justify my choices to her, I was able to enjoy just hanging out doing "nothing" with the baby all day, again recognizing this is time we will never get back. Approaching 14 months and now it definitely doesn't seem like enough!

shit some of you guys we go way back in the annals of TA. Now here you are being adults and stuff. Kudos and hope your little monsters will one day end up on TA and find your old posts.
