i love both, but i think tiesto just b/c he's a little more emotional...whereas paul is like, harder...i like the girly stuff

Pvd has better track selection, his mixing is perfect and tiesto's not,and productions fits better to my style

andy, this is what I think of you:

Definately PvD cause he inspired me to do what I do today.
Plus Tiesto lost that magick long ago, I think hes boring as hell and dont really want to listen to any new releases by him. And I still havent seen him live, and am not planning on it.

FAO: DJ Tiesto

This one is tough for me. I still hold tiesto With high respect, as until recently he was my favorite DJ. But my vote goes to PvD now.

This is my first post and I guess I chose a rather worn out topic for it to be on, but this is what i think. I live in an area where electronic music is not very popular at all, and i 'discovered' trance with help from only 1 friend. Now, although I am a huge fan of both PVD and Tiesto, I just don't consider van dyk to be a trance dj...sure, he uses trance tunes quite frequently in his sets, but nothing he has produced falls into the trance catagory for me. PvD himself has expressed this opinion...he merely considers himself a dance music DJ. Tiesto on the other hand, is clearly hard trance. There are definately times I'd prefer one to the other to listen to, but as far as 'trance' is concerned, I would rather listen to a Tiesto trance set than a Van Dyk 'trance' set anyday. My conceptions of trance could be completely out of whack though, but thats just my 2 cents.

Granted this isn't in the past 3 months, but this should give you a pretty good idea what I'm talking about. This set was fucking HORRIBLE!

I dunno man.. this set was pretty swank.

easy ...Paul van Dyk!!

Posted by DJ_Eclipse on Mar-10-2003 02:13:

Well, I've never seen Paul Van Dyk. I've seen Tiesto 3 times. 2 times were excellent one was average. However, based on their work and personalities, I vote PVD. Tiesto would actually rank 4th on my list after PVD, Armin Van Buuren, and Ferry Corsten who played the best set I've ever been to last night at Kool Haus, Toronto.
