Hooman, I love ya like a brother, but I have to disagree with you that the majority of the blame should be placed on the veterans.

Using the word queer is slightly offensive as well, but you know, let's just sit here and let the noob say what the hell he wants?

<-- rarely takes shit from anyone

Jon, I did read all the comments in various threads. I think SAKE definitely has not behaved appropriately, I just think people over-reacted adding to the problem and making the whole thing bigger than needed. For example, if I had someone call my favourite DJ crappy, I would either ignore them or try and tell them why they're wrong. After all, my DJ is no worse cuz of their comment. I wouldn't jump out ganging up against them calling them names. That just makes things worse. What I've seen happen over and over in the forum is people jumping at each other's throats, sometimes because they didn't ignore an ignorant comment, and often because they keep misreading or misinterpreting each other's posts. It all makes for an unpleasant vibe in the forum.

Now, I never said that majority of blame should be on veterans. It's just that I have higher expectations from the veterans. I know many enough to know they are cool people, so it surprises me to see these kinds of reactions. Perhaps the word veteran was inappropriate, as some of the frequent flamers are relatively new. It's just that they post so frequently that it feels like they are not.

Using the word queer is more than offensive and I think Sake should appologize and refrain from using that again. I frankly would like forum rules that ban people from using many types of offensive language. But to be honest, many people have said worse things and been ignored. But the Lynch mob seems to be after poor Sake and nothing will be excused.

Again, I am not defending anyone. I just believe in being fair, even if I don't like someone. I'd like a more tolerant environment that welcomes and teaches the newcomers. I guess I've just become way too soft in my old age.

BTW, I am glad you voiced your disagreement with me, see how it can be done nicely?

Sake, these people do have a point though and you should probably apologize and refrain from posting for a bit to let people cool down. And if you're gonna try making "suggestions" for change in the forum, I suggest you do so once you're a little more established and in a nicer way.

Last point. To give an example of how people have been very inappropriate yet to my knowledge people have not tried to kick them off the forum, take a look at some of TranceLudaks posts. No offence Tranceludak, but every single post that I have seen from you is extremely angry, offensive, etc. You really need to chill....

i agree with all that u said, BUT..

u didn't understand what TranceLudak posted, he wanted to fuck me and my whole family cuz i like techno..
furthermore, yea ur pm explained tranceludak's behavior - but i still won't apologize to him, never!

i don't have beef with anyone, nor tranceludak..

I didn't mean for you to apologize to anyone specific (I didn't even remember who the queer comment was to, people find use of the word offensive regardless). Just thought you might want to apologize to everyone overall for "anything that you might have said to upset them" and get this silly soap opera over with.

If you don't want to, fine by me, doesn't really affect me. In fact, I'm done posting on this subject.

Wow, this thread went outta control!!! I'm especially amused with all the *requests* from people to be banned.

But seriously guys, this was meant to be HUMOROUS. While I think I accomplished that, it's definitely brought out the ugly side in some. I totally understand Arcticboy's points- he brought up some very good issues. But you know this didn't start only because of the 'crappytrance' comment- that was just the final straw. I honestly know we can't ban someone just for being annoying & argumentative- it was more or less a (not-so) subtle hint directed at sake to get him to chill out. If I'd had the balls a year ago, I probably would've started a thread like this for infinity high ("why oh why isn't Wintergalactic a 16+ event??" for weeks on end!!!!), but he was just annoying (not argumentative). But now, I love the little guy!

Ok, so what's my point? Ummm, I dunno. But I do know this- let's all chill out & try to get along. There's no need for threats and curses on this board.

Maybe sooper needs to start a 'get to know sake' thread? Or maybe sake needs to auction something off, like the rights to pitch the ball while he's in one of those dunking tanks? (inside jokes, sake)

And on that note....... EOD.

LOL!

Thanks, Ahhhhrnold.

One last comment-

Why the hell is everyone offering to buy sake drinks??? You should be offering to buy ME drinks. I'm the funny one!!!

But since my diet does not include alcohol, u can offer me drugs, or $ to go buy drugs. This is all for the sake of science, you know? Just volunteering to be the guiney pig for the TOTA's, so u can all see what 11 years of ecstacy use will do to you. Really- I'm doing this for all of you......

Im still waiting for sake to back up his "crappytrance" comment.

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-14-2003 03:45:

Evil1 OH HELL NO!!!!!!!!!

Sake- Just ignore that.

Techno Addict- don't provoke him. Things are finally quieting down (w/the exception of El Kay Dee now), but there's no need to rehash this again. He has his opinion, and leave it at that, even if it is wrong. :P

I want peace in here as much as you do Nat, i would just like to hear why he thinks this way about Mauro. He seems to enjoy a lot of the same techno dj's that i do and its baffeling to me that Picotto isnt on his list of favs.

Posted by TheNeonAlien on Feb-14-2003 04:10:

Nat, I need a copy of that Demo CD! The one that he gave to you. If its top 3 for technoAdiict then it must be good.

i don't wanna back up my opinion 'bout mauro cuz i don't wanna start what i started b4..

i liked many many many other dj's than mauro, but i don't wanna start the why oh why topic again..

next gig in town u'll see why i like tekkno so much - if i meet some of u of course..

i d/l mauro set about a year ago, it disgusted me.. maybe he does produce tekkno now ( good for him ) but that set was just simply awful.. too commercial..

nhf to any1 whatsoever

Posted by Dj-HordasH on Feb-14-2003 04:44:

Honestly Picotto isnt on the top of my techno list either mate, it took me a really long time to get accustomed to his style and some of his sets still dont totally do it for me. Im sure Ill be sold after the live display but still Rush, Clarke got priority.

Let me take a quick shot at dissecting the roots of the riddle:
This might not be 100% the rationale behind a comment like Sakes but his reasoning is somewhat understandable since Mauro is exceedingly commercial and is undeniably the hottest name associated with the Techno scene, thus some of us who dont like to follow the trends and like what everybody else likes do not see Mauro in the same light. I was like that a couple of years ago, since everyone was into Picotto so much I stirred away and I praised other DJs that not many people knew of, simply because Picotto was way too commercial for my liking. It was all about the sounds of the underground The same way Mecha often calls some trance cheese Sake mightve as well perhaps called Mauros beats by the same name, would it have been a different outcome??

I didnt give Mauro a chance for a long time and as I said I wasnt really fond of his style for quite a while so Sake might be in the same position or Mauros style simply doesnt do justice, period.
I hope that made some sense, if it didnt blame it on almost no sleep cos of bloody midterms. I guess well polish things out over a drink this Sat.

Yes, to each his own, i understand your logic. Just dont like the fact that sake believes he is "craptrance" dj (no basis for that). Maybe you'll change your mind come Macrh 14, see you there man

well said hordash..

imo i would rather listen to live performance by speedy j or cristian varela or even neil landstrumm... i'm pretty sure u've never even heard of these artists/dj's .. whY? cuz we have different tastes in music... u like oranges i like pears... and so forth.. it's a never ending story... i like listening to tekkno dj's rather than mauro picotto.. neon, if u like him fine that's ur opinion, i don't - i like tekkno rather than trance..

but trust me i tried going to trance raves, but for some reason it's just not the same as tekkno.. the groove is a whole lot different in good tekkno dj's = dj's that make u wanna move ur body, com' on, moooooove ur body..

Posted by tatgirl on Feb-14-2003 05:22:

FYI, sake- NeonAlien doesn't even like trance- I have to force him to come to parties with me. He likes techno- he may not be as knowledgeable as you are, but once again - to each his own.

now.....

EOD!!!
