Ugh, I'm getting initiated into my union tomorrow which means a couple of things. 1) I have to drive to Queens to take the E train to work so I have to wake up a little earlier to get a parking spot. 2) I have to pay over $300 for initiation fees and 3) I'm prob gonna get home around 9 or so (hopefully no later). On top of that, I get out of work at 2:15 and the initiation isn't until 6something. Oh well, it's only one day and it's well worth it.

welps, i got a response from a school telling me that they received all my application and transcript materials...
and they scheduled me for my pretest, this upcoming Friday July 27....for the upcoming semester SEPTEMBER 5, 2007. I *swear* I had to look at it twice. The website had said all applications for 9/5/2007 was all closed until SEPT 15. how odd i made the cut through a loophole.
guess i was a lil TOO overzealous but im still thrilled i got to this point!!! it just took a lot of MOTIVATION and just throwing myself into it but i DID!!! awesome~
well now i can breathe a sigh of relief, read up on anatomy and bio, do more research, go visit my firend who graduated from the same school, and be the earliest candidate for the impending FALL 2008 pool.

I wish I would have known you were coming by. I would have let you park in my parking space...I leave for work early anyway and no one is using it. If you are bored after work before the initiation thing give me a ring. I live down the block.

well, im still debating on whether i should hold off since I totally expected to apply for the FALL 2008 class, NOT the Fall 2007. I would, but my finances are not going to allow it. I wanted to save up at least a year's tuition (a 2 yr program is $16k, which isn't too bad but still gotta have the savings, you know?). I really *tried* to read up as best as i could on both Bio and Anatomy...but its a hella lot of memorization for Anatomy/Physiology, which I have never taken before as a class. I need to find out if I'll even be able to take this test AGAIN next yr if i do go ahead and take the test this Friday. If not, then I'm better off just waiting till after September 15th to take the pretest for the upcoming year.
but hey, look on the bright side, ive motivated myself to get THIS far...my mindset is strong, there's no stopping me now, really.

And THAT is the EXACT attitude to have
I am so proud of you girl!

well definitely health-related...im STILL undecided in a way but doing madd research in all areas in which im interested in
back in UB i was soo intrigued by Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy but the crazy lab hours/rqeuirement and amt of time in school kinda intimidated me, and then i was convinced to major in business cuz it was *practical* so at the time i was *sold* on practicality...but i was THISCLOSE to majoring in PSYCH (but got scared off by the prospect of having to get a doctorate)...and BIO cuz i aced my Bio class and loved the work....the advisors at UB really sucked btw and gave absolutely NO guidance whatsoever. well what can i say, i did give business a GO and its doable/i can certainly make somewhat of a living. but im not where i wanna be, right? so i def gotta make a change...
and also one of my friends graduated from a 2 year Radiography program at NY Methodist which she kept talking and talking about, and she is doing fabulously now, so thru that I became more interested. but since I have been outta school since 2004 i am just a tad lacking in confidence and obviously coursework. I figure if anything, I can start at a CUNY taking prereqs and then slowly apply for the majors for the Spring 2008 OR the Fall 2008 classes (depending on school)
so right now I have applications at CUNY for the following programs: Radiology, Pre-Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy tracks. The good thing about getting into CUNY is that 1) its cheap 2) ill be able to take the classes and labs that I need 3)and hey, if i really DO have a knack for all this stuff, then the possiblities would open up even more. I owe it to myself to try to find that out. i really do.
and two for Radiography programs at NYM and NCC for now...i figure ill start really pushing out more applications once September hits.

well, thx for the vote of confidence, i def appreciate it! well it would depend on which track i decide to settle for. yes its a bit scary but i just have to move on with my life and get to that next step. It's been 4 years since my last stint with school, and i took the time to really THINK about what I truly wanted to be doing...
Time waits for NO ONE, and I just have to better myself professionally going fwd, for my mom, for my future family etc. BIG plans for myself within the next 2-3 years.
And speaking of motivation, u for one has got it!!! getting a masters in your field, getting this great job, and THEN going back so you can realize your goal of being a sex therapist. Thanks for all the talks in the past about schools and stuff, i would have to say that was one of the major factors which encouraged me toward jumping headfirst into the craziness. so thank you from the bottom of my heart

So are you looking to get your medical degree or a 2 year degree? The school I went to was very HEAVY in the medical field and OT, PT, Radiology is some tough shit. I saw girls give up there entire lives to get into the program and still couldn't, and the ones that did where never seen from again cause all they did was work there asses off, then again it was one of the best 4 year programs in the country.
Its gonna be a LOT OF HARD WORK...but if you are ready for the commitment more power to you.

well thank you.
im pretty much prepared to go into medical if i end up THAT interested in it. Even with Radiography, I'm definitely gearing toward a few specializations at the very least (CT, MRI, Womens Diagnostics). yes it is very hard overall, back in school i had friends who just *dropped off the face of the earth* due to their majors in Pharmacy, Nursing, and other health-related degrees. But they had the mentality and desire for it, and right now I believe i possess the same.
i have been mentally preparing myself for the long haul ahead...its been really hard trying to research everything to the fullest and ive been doing that since 1 yr and a half ago without having any sort of background in science or health (and of course i still do not know EVERYTHING that i need to know)-- just making sure I wanted to go into this, talking to friends who have graduated or are currently pursuing similar track / health programs, reading up in medical journals/magazines about different fields and where they needed people in certain specialties.
when/if I do get into any of these programs (HOPEFULLY!!!) then my life as I know it now will come to a complete HALT. But I have truly accepted that...one of the main reasons why I had begun cutting down on going out etc. in order to prepare for the changes ahead. But hey small sacrifices NOW so I can face a future that is BOUNDLESS and where I would have the means to shape it as I want. I can truthfully see how certain things will turn out, and its soo close i can almost taste it. so that further motivates me. I'm really thinking of my MOM most of all though -- i owe it to her to be able to come through with flying colors. I would really like to be able to help her retire.
atm, i just NEED for this job to become PERMANENT then I'll be able to really SAVE for school. Im saving a bit at a time right now though with the limited resources which I have. its going ok.

the wedding party will be one big eating party rather than a drinking party tomorrow
i've missed one in newport, RI since the wedding was too close to when I took the GMATs, i'm missing a family wedding in vegas of all places since i'm already out of town labor day weekend, and i'm forced to miss another in indianapoils in the fall since i'll be visiting business schools at that time

Oh for one wedding I'm just gonna eat myself retarded because I think for me to drink more than say two drinks would look awful to this particular group of family...
Damn those are a lot of wedding to miss,I hope those people don't take it offensively or anything that you have other plans...off topic but I hope the business school search goes well, looking for schools is difficult
